If there is anyone other than Hillary Clinton who has been scheming and plotting his whole life to become President, it is New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
And he’s really ramped up his pre-presidential posturing over the last couple of years just to get himself in the right frame of mind for 2020.
He proposed a “free college” program, played footsie with Cuba and advanced every other far-Left “cause” he could cling to.
All signs are pointing to Andrew Cuomo preparing to be the 2020 version of Bernie Sanders.
Hell, he even has the curmudgeonly bellow down pat.
But there’s just one problem.
Even New Yorkers can’t stomach the thought of Andy becoming President.
Imagine my pleasant surprise this morning when, wandering over to the local news website to check the weather, I saw this headline:
Boy, after days of Homer FacePalm stories, it’s nice to break out the Homer Woo-Hoo!
According to a Quinnipiac poll, 52% of New Yorkers think Andrew Cuomo wouldn’t be a good President.
On a related note, 100% of Dianny’s family and friends believe Andrew Cuomo wouldn’t be a good President. But then again, we think he sucks as Governor too.
Of course the downside is, Cuomo is still a popular governor in New York. But mostly thanks to a high approval rating among his only New York constituents – the residents of NYC – who give him a 60% approval rating.
Here in upstate New York, Andrew has a 43% approval rating. We hate the guy.
Any governor who panders to New York City is going to be hated here in Upstate New York. Where folks aspire to be more than disarmed welfare recipients.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I doubt this means that in 2020 New Yorkers would choose Trump over Cuomo in a hypothetical match-up.
New Yorkers tend to vote against their own interests.
It’s how we got stuck with Andrew Cuomo to begin with.
Knowing that Cuomo’s presidential aspirations don’t even have the support of a majority of people living in the bluest state east of the Mississippi still gives me a happy.
