Ben Walsh wins Syracuse Mayor’s Race

Ben walsh

Well, I’m just tickled pink!

As I wrote this morning, today I voted for Independent candidate Ben Walsh for Syracuse Mayor.

Well, I am delighted to say he won.

And he didn’t just win, my friends. He blew Juanita Perez Williams out of the water.

It wasn’t even close.

The Democrat (and Stephanie Miner’s heir apparent) lost big league.

This after getting the endorsements of Andrew Cuomo, Kirsten Gillibrand, Chuck Schumer and even Joe Biden.

Listen, I know everyone is smarting over Gillespie losing to Northam in Virginia. Okay, I’m not smarting because I never thought Gillespie had a chance. Sorry.

But to have the Democrat candidate for Syracuse mayor lose in a landslide is a big freaking deal.

As I mentioned this morning, Syracuse isn’t just blue, it’s midnight blue — bluer than the bluest ocean blue. This is a city where oftentimes the only candidates running for a seat are from the Democrat Party and the Green Party. I can’t tell you the number of seats where I vote for nobody.

So to have the Democrat candidate for Mayor (who was a considered a lock just a few weeks ago) lose by a sixteen point margin is quite a sight to behold. Especially when that Democrat was endorsed by the so-called “heavy hitters” in the party.

But then again, as I mentioned this morning, the fact that the Democrat Party had to send in big-name Dems to try and save Juanita Perez Williams was a clear sign that they knew she was in trouble.

I couldn’t be happier.

After eight years with a perfectly terrible mayor — the always irritating Stephanie Miner — actually helping to elect the next mayor of Syracuse (instead of voting for whatever “also-ran” Republican they find) made my whole year.

Congratulations to Mayor-elect Ben Walsh. I look forward to seeing what you do.

As to Virginia, from one who lives here, Gillespie failed to connect and dump his old RINO Establishment persona. GOP was also lazy. They didn’t get voters to turn out and took them for granted. Democrats knocked on doors, GOP didn’t. Even outside the polling place a Democrat was handing out Democrat ballot sheets and GOP was nowhere to be seen. they presumed with Democrats at an all time low they could be lazy.

Isn’t Virginia like other so-called “blue” states where one or two counties control the whole state? Doesn’t Fairfax County pretty much dictate election outcomes like Cook County (Chicago) in Illinois or King County (Seattle) in Washington?
