Bubble-Dwellers Unite!

The one downside of the ridiculous implosion of the NFL is having to talk about football as if it matters.

But that’s okay.

There are a ton of upsides to this that make it all worthwhile.

If there’s one thing that has become crystal clear about the Left over the last year, it’s this.

They really have no grasp of the character and nature of the American people.

And for the most part, that lack of understanding is self-imposed.

Leftists tend to keep themselves in a hermetically-sealed bubble surrounded by like-minded people. And after a while, life within that bubble is the only life they know.

In that respect, it’s a lot like Plato’s analogy of the cave.

They see those shadows dancing on the wall in front of them, and believe that is real life.

Meanwhile, people on Planet Earth are the ones who broke the chains pinning them to the cave’s floor, walked outside and saw the world for what it really is.

(If Plato were alive today, I suppose he’d have added “they were red-pilled.”)

And all the while, the cave-dwellers stare at the shadows thinking they know how things really are.

Plato’s cave-dwellers have become the modern-day bubble-dwellers.

So the NFL decides to double-down on their so-called “protests.”

And because they are firmly wedged inside that bubble, they are completely incapable of making the connection between the increased “protests” and the precipitous drop in ratings.

Life in a bubble is a handicap – that much is obvious.

And speaking of bubbles…

The bubble-dwellers in Hollywood – also pretty clueless about life in the real world – have decided to unite with the bubble-dwellers of the NFL.

The Douche is Out There…

To be honest with you, the most shocking thing about this picture is finding out the X-Files is still on.

I thought it ended over a decade ago.

Like their fellow bubble-dwellers in the NFL, the stars of the X-Files didn’t make the connection between the Emmy’s Trump-Bashing and its plummeting ratings.

So instead, they double-down.

And what’s terrifically sad is that these athletes, celebrities and media people believe they are winning this culture war – because ten out of ten bubble-dwellers agree.

But out here in the real world – where it matters – they most certainly are not.

And the reason is the same as it was on November 8, 2016.

The bubble-dwellers have no understanding of the American people.

There’s that famous anecdote about Pauline Kael – a former film critic for The New Yorker — who was stunned when in 1972 Richard Nixon defeated McGovern in a 49-state landslide.

And why was she stunned?

Because within her hermetically-sealed bubble in Manhattan, she knew only one person who voted for Nixon.

If Kael had been alive on November 8, 2016, I’m sure she would have been equally stunned.

These bubble-dwellers – surrounded as they are by like-minded people – have the misguided belief that everyone outside of their bubble thinks exactly as they do.

When it comes to this stupid #TakeTheKnee, they are making the exact same mistake they made with Hillary Clinton.

But they applaud each other for their so-called “bravery” and slap each other on the back for being so “woke.”

Meanwhile outside of the bubble, the rest of the country watches this virtue-signaling display and feels nothing but contempt.

I’ve often said that the Left has the nasty habit of pushing too hard and too far.

And that’s exactly what they’re doing with this NFL “protest.”

But when you live in a bubble surrounded by people who are ideologically identical to you, that’s bound to happen.

Because they think everyone in the country finds them as “brave” and “woke” as they find themselves.

Spoiler alert: we don’t; we find you repugnant.

And the harder they push — the further they go — the more disgusted and angry the people outside of the bubble are going to get.

They think they’re winning.

And just like on the night of November 8, 2016, they’re going to learn the hard way that this will backfire on them big league.

Unbelievable the amount of free time I’m going to have now that I no longer watch mindless diversions such as professional sports or most TV shows and movies.

My entire life I have been a huge fan of Star Trek. I was at the premiere of every movie. Watched every TV show almost religiously (at least until I joined the military in the late-90’s and wasn’t always around to see the shows on first broadcast, but I was sure to buy the DVDs when they were released).
I feel luke-warm about this latest series, Star Trek: Discovery. And after having heard that the entire cast has decided to kneel on the flag I risked my life to help defend, I don’t know if I will ever feel like watching it.
I guess I won’t be watching the new season of X-Files now either.

No-class millionaire athletes (NFL, NBA, MLB), Hollywood elites, professional politicians, business leaders, and media trolls, who will never be as much a world icon as Usain Bolt, could learn a lot from him. Remember the Rio Olympics when he, a Jamaican not an American, gracefully stopped a post-race interview to stand respectfully when he heard The Star Spangled Banner playing in the background for a medals presentation ceremony? @Geoduck, thanks for reminding me of that.

People equate having a lot of money with intelligence. In point of fact, being intelligent and having a bit of snap is what, in actuality, creates the situation wherein one can amass oodles of moola. Those fools who have had lotsa money carelessly thrust upon them just have it backasswards and then presume that because they have a big chunk of change to play with, they must be really, really smart. I guess you just can’t fix stupid…
