CNN Blackmail: They’ve crossed the Rubicon

I spent the evening of July 4th watching the movie “American Sniper” and trying to keep my dog from turning inside out over the frequent explosions of fireworks in my neighborhood. So I completely missed the breaking news that CNN has resorted to blackmail against a private citizen for embarrassing them.

Imagine my surprise when I went onto Twitter late last night and discovered what I had been missing.

Here’s a summary in case you, like me, missed the story.

CNN tracked down the anonymous Reddit user who created the wrestling meme President Trump tweeted out.

They revealed his screen name: HanAssholeSolo. And threatened to expose his real name if he ever did anything like that again.

Here’s the relevant section from CNN’s reporting. I grabbed a screen capture because something tells me it will be “updated” and the blackmail threat will be removed:

“Nice anonymity you got there. Be a shame if something happened to it.”

If you got threatened by a major media corporation, I’m guessing you’d recant too — the same way Protestants recanted when faced with being burned at the stake.

And the same way POWs made propaganda videos for their captors.

At this point, CNN has crossed the Rubicon.

This is beneath contempt.

When they are willing to use blackmail to prevent a private citizen from exercising his First Amendment right to free speech, there’s no coming back from that.

As somebody who creates agitprop, this kind of blackmail and coercion is chilling.

And the irony of it all is mind-boggling.

The personalities on CNN spent the last few days clutching their pearls and bemoaning their own personal safety over a wrestling gif.

Yet the only person whose safety is threatened is the guy who made the wrestling meme. And the very threat is coming from CNN.

I don’t know how they could think this was a good idea.

This wasn’t about “reporting the news;” this is nothing more than getting revenge on the person who humiliated them.

Does CNN actually believe it can restore its crumbling reputation by means of threats and blackmail?

And I’ll be honest with you. If I were HanAssholeSolo, I’d be finding an attorney and suing these idiots post haste.

coward news network. what a bunch of spineless wimps.

The liberal media is disgusting. In spite of their hate and smearing and name calling and threats, our president is working to keep his word and to do what is right and best for America and ALL her citizens. I respect and admire Trump even more every day as he goes about the business of doing what he was elected to do.

Real Americans have spoken. We want our country back. Our jobs were being sent to Mexico and China. Our taxes were being spent on illegals, refugees, and welfare leaches.

My healthcare is too expensive ($800/month for my family). Time to step away from socialism and let the capitalism work. My car insurance is just $25 per month (Insurance Panda) and my internet is just $30/month from RNC. Let the free market handle health insurance!

    God bless Trump and America.

So you’re totally OK with the president of the United States re-tweeting a depiction of violence against journalists, but CNN’s behavior is what’s over the line? I assume you’re also OK with that president urging people to punch protesters, bragging about grabbing [email protected], lying ridiculously about illegal votes (despite evidence to the contrary being provided over and over and over by Republican secretaries of state), absurdly taking credit for the same DOL job statistics that then candidate Trump claimed were false, and – of course — lying ridiculously and clumsily about inauguration crowd sizes.

    That’s sad.

So you were totally okay with Barack Obama surveilling journalists (and their parents), jailing journalists, and targeting Tea Party groups using both the IRS and DOJ. I assume you’re also okay with Obama urging supporters to “get in their faces,” showing off his stiffie to plane load of reporters, lying ridiculously about the Iran Deal, Obamacare, Benghazi, absurdly taking credit for job growth in Republican states and lying ridiculously and clumsily about Hillary Clinton’s so-called qualifications for President.

      That’s sad.

DC libtard:you’ve obviously come here to provoke some kind of response so you can feel self-important.Trouble is,we deal in rational thought and can carry on a conversation without resorting to name-calling within 30 seconds. Now run along, the grownups wish to talk among themselves. There’s a good lad.

DC Lib must not have seen all the voter fraud defendants in court who were recently jailed.
And how about those two criminal Pakistanis who were rehired by Debbie Schultz to do IT for the DNC, that just fled the country with millions of dollars that were received under the radar and illegally ? It was a family affair, no less. LOL
