CNN Editorial Standards Process: A bar is so low, a snake can step over it

Once again, CNN rushed to release a BREAKING story that was, well, a nothing-burger.

This time they claimed that WikiLeaks emailed the Trump people with instructions on how to get a peek at yet-to-be released documents.

Nobody at CNN saw this email from WikiLeaks. Instead, they simply relied on two unnamed sources from the House Intelligence Committee who told them it was dated September 4, 2016. (I’m guessing it was Adam Schiff, but that’s just conjecture on my part.)

Yeah. It wasn’t dated September 4. The email date was September 14, 2016 – or, after WikiLeaks had already released the documents in question.

Another EXPLOSIVE report that ended up sputtering out like a wet fart.

But CNN plans no discipline for the “journalist” in question.

Well, he followed CNN’s “Editorial Standards Process.”

Boy, the bar must be really low at CNN.

My guess is the Editorial Standards Process is this:

“If it hurts President Trump, then run with it!”

That just never gets old, Jim.

But even after having to admit that their story was nothing but a misleading hit job based on false information, CNN refused to issue an apology.

Can you believe him?

Brian seems almost proud of the fact that CNN won’t apologize for rushing to release a supposed “explosive” report without fact-checking it.

Remind me again, what’s the name of Brian Stelter’s show?

Oh, yeah. Reliable Sources.

Which pretty much proves that though they lack any standards, CNN is chock-full of irony.

And no sooner does CNN get caught promoting a supposed damning story that isn’t particularly damning, they made this mistake.

“We have a quote from Raj Shah! Quick, get me a picture of Raj Shah! Now, our Editorial Standards Process dictates that we need a picture. But it doesn’t say we need the correct picture. So just Google the name and get me the first Rah Shah that pops up!”

Perhaps instead of hiring Valerie Jarrett’s daughter, CNN should have spent that payroll on a few fack-checkers.

Or are fact-checkers not required by their Editorial Standards Process?

I’m sorry. What was that again, Jim?

Oh, right.

How many times is CNN going to have to eat crow before they decide to raise the bar on their reporting?

Well, we’re not even through the first year of President Trump’s term and, as the Daily Caller points out, there have already been seven so-called reports CNN got terribly wrong.

So unless CNN is willing to change their Editorial Standards Process into something remotely resembling a reputable news outlet, I’m guessing they’ll be eating a hell of a lot of crow before Trump’s presidency comes to an end.

I no longer watch the news for news, I watch it for laughs.

The shame of this origination is this behavior goes all the way up to the board room! The only income of substantial amount comes from cable/dish companies paying them extortion monies garnered from customers, so one has to ask: Are the board members so rich that a losing company doesn’t seem to matter that much? Oh, yeah, forgot that tax write off on a ‘loss’. I would love to see the accounting records for CNN. They may well be breaking even as it doesn’t cost that much to hire low rate ‘journalist’ and second rate air persons!

Not sure; but, I think most CNN snakes bear apples.

When Grimhilde (CNN) summons the spirit of the Magic Mirror to ask, “Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” I see Donald Trump’s face answering, “Not you — you’re fake news!”
