Dear Senate: Please don’t dawdle on Kate’s Law

I’m not prepared to do a happy dance over the House passing Kate’s Law and the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m glad the House passed them. And I believe both bills should end up on President Trump’s desk post haste.

The thing that keeps me from celebrating is knowing these bills still have to go to the Senate.

And I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel confident that the Republican leadership in the Senate is willing to fight to get these bills passed.

Let’s be honest, Mitch McConnell doesn’t just look like a turtle. He moves with the speed of a turtle. And, just like a turtle, at the first sign of trouble, he ducks into his shell.

I’m afraid these guys will dawdle, hem and haw, then simply let these bills die without a vote.

I want to be wrong.

But past experience leaves me skeptical.

So let me give the Senate Republicans a little unsolicited advice.

Please don’t dawdle on Kate’s Law.

Kate Steinle was murdered two years ago tomorrow.

You’ve dawdled enough.

I’ve said before the Congressional Republicans need to take a page from Donald Trump.

And if there is one issue that catapulted Mr. Trump to the nomination – and to the White House — it is his position on illegal immigration.

Just two weeks after Kate Steinle’s death, candidate Trump met with families of those killed by illegal aliens.

Afterward, he held a press conference with them.

And before fielding questions, Mr. Trump stood back and let these family members do the talking.

It was a powerful, powerful event.

At the time, I wrote:

This is why Donald Trump is resonating.
Finally, somebody is saying the very things that far too many of us have been saying for years while our elected officials turned a deaf ear.
As I listened to them, I felt less like Trump was using these people as props and more like these people were finally being given an opportunity to be heard.
That in large part was due to the fact that Trump gave them the floor. He stepped back and let them do the talking. More importantly, he listened.
And it would be wise of the Republican Party to take heed.

Here is the moment.

And Republicans in the Senate need to step up and finish the work President Trump began two years ago.

Don’t dawdle. Act.

Choosing to dawdle on these bills will blow up in your faces like a trick cigar.

The majority of Americans support enforcing our immigration laws. And they are firmly behind the President’s efforts to see to it that criminal aliens are not permitted to run free in this country.

Even in California, the majority of people – 74% to be exact — do not approve of sanctuary cities.

The women and children who have been sexually assaulted, the gang rapes, the murders, drunk driving fatalities, violent gang activity, human trafficking, burglaries, assaults – all the crimes committed by those in the country illegally are entirely preventable.

And here is your chance to prevent them.

Illegal immigration is a national security problem.

It is public safety problem.

So please do not dawdle on Kate’s Law.

Yes, the Democrats will try to block you.

But instead of caving to them and dragging your feet, why not give them a taste of their own medicine?

You have the best argument against their obstruction.

And it’s this:

The Democrat Party is siding with criminals illegals over the safety and security of the American people.

There are 25 Democrat Senators up for reelection in 2018. And they are turning their backs on the very people whose votes they need in favor of criminals who are not even supposed to be in this country.

Hammer them with this. Call attention to the fact that these Democrat Senators care nothing about the safety of their own states’ citizens.

Sure, these arguments won’t play well in the media or inside the Beltway.

Who cares?!

Among the voters, it will resonate – the same way it resonated for Donald Trump.

This is a moment to stand up for the American people.

Will you do that? Are you willing to defy the hysterical demagoguery of the press and the Democrats? Are you willing to fight for us?

Or will you cow to the Democrats and their operatives in the media, and at the first sign of resistance dawdle until the bill quietly dies?

How many American lives are you willing to sacrifice?

Because if you dawdle on these two bills, you are telling the American people that their safety and their lives are expendable.

Some things are worth fighting for.

And making sure that Kate’s Law gets on the President’s desk is certainly one of them.

Unfortunately I agree that there will most likely be a lot of dawdling going on. What would have been far preferable is that the Republic had been doing the proper thing regarding illegal aliens – especially repeaters – Kate would still be alive. The best we can do now is to insure that there are no more innocent victims………….

And yet the scumbags’ liberal attorneys wanted his case thrown out because the police held him for 6 hrs before questioning him.
Undue incarceration. It just wasn’t “fair.”

And liberals call Trump an asshole.
Well, I guess we NEED an asshole in these times.
