For Pete’s sake, stop digging Lieu

When the clip of him accidentally revealing his animosity toward the First Amendment went viral, Ted Lieu naturally felt the need to indulge in a little Lieu-splaining.

Yeah, it didn’t go well.

Taking to Twitter, Lieu said:

Get it everyone?

When Lieu said on CNN that he would love to regulate speech but the First Amendment prevents him from doing it, what he really meant to say was “I’d love to regulate your speech, but thank goodness the First Amendment prevents me.”

And to Ted, this is defending the First Amendment.

Yup.  That really clears it all up, doesn’t it?

So you guys were totally wrong to interpret what he said as Ted would love to regulate speech, but the First Amendment gets in his way.

Because what he really meant was he would love to regulate speech but thank goodness the First Amendment gets in his way.

I said yesterday that someone who believes that the right to Free Speech is unalienable wouldn’t “love” to be able to infringe on our Freedom of Speech.

And if you want to defend the First Amendment, it isn’t a good look to admit that the person you’re “defending” the First Amendment from is yourself.

“Thank goodness for the First Amendment because I simply can’t be trusted! For God’s sake! Stop me before I infringe on your rights!”

But the fact is, Ted Lieu’s greatest sin here was breaking the Democrats’ Number One Rule: “Never say the quiet truth out loud.”

And here’s the quiet truth: Leftists do not believe in unalienable rights and see the Constitution as an obstacle to the things they would “love” to do. And if they can, they will one day remove that obstacle.

Well then, I guess that includes Ted’s speech.

    What a jackass.

If Ted Lieu, by his own admission, can’t be trusted with power, his constituents should take his word for it and vote him out of office.
