Fredo and the Streisand Effect

I’m sure by now you’ve seen the viral video of Chris Cuomo losing his marbles after a guy called him Fredo.
Turns out Fredo Cuomo has a bit of a potty mouth. I guess he figures the best way to prove that he isn’t the weak, dumb brother is to use the F-word with wild abandon.
But profanity is not a sign of toughness. Rather it is the refuge of the weak.
Now, people have been calling Chris Cuomo Fredo for years. And thanks to Chris’ hysterical meltdown caught on video, it’s likely even more people will be calling him Fredo from here on out.
It’s even trending on Twitter.

This is called the Streisand Effect.
For those who don’t know the etymology, the Streisand Effect was coined after Barbra Streisand sued a photographer for violating her privacy after taking an aerial photograph of the Malibu coastline that included her estate.
But thanks to the lawsuit, far more attention was brought to that photo than would have had Streisand simply not done a thing.
So the Streisand Effect has come to mean “when an attempt to hide, remove or censor a piece of information results in said information becoming more widely disseminated.”
Chris Cuomo is trapped in his own Streisand Effect.
I just did a Bing search on the name Fredo Corleone and guess what came up first?

Of course CNN didn’t make it any better for the dumb brother.
Rather than simply letting it lie, CNN’s VP felt the need to respond after Donald Trump Jr. goaded the network.
Chris Cuomo defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur in an orchestrated setup. We completely support him.

Two things:
First, Chris wasn’t “verbally attacked.” If anyone was verbally abusive it was F-word Cuomo (And I don’t mean “F-word” as in “Fredo”).
Second, calling the dumb Cuomo “Fredo” isn’t an “ethnic slur.” It has a very specific meaning – namely the dumb, weak brother from the Godfather that got passed over.
In the video, Cuomo actually claimed that calling him “Fredo” is just as bad as the “N-word.” Yeah, no it’s not.
Keep talking, Chris. Thanks to your big mouth, you will never wash off the name. You might as well get it tattooed to your forehead.
“Fredo” is not an “ethnic slur” against Italians.

But if you were to call me something like “Cuomo” — well, then we’d have a problem…
Chris Cuomo knows full well what the name implies. That’s precisely why he was so angry about it.
But like any card-carrying Leftist, he is attempting to portray himself as a victim – while cussing up a storm and threatening to “f**cking throw you down the stairs!”
But the truth is, in order to have a Fredo you have to have a smart brother. And given Chris’ brother is Andrew, well, there is no smart brother in the Cuomo family.
Andrew and Chris have been in a horse race for years over which one of them is the Fredo of the Cuomos.
And thanks to that viral video and the Streisand Effect, for this week anyway, Chris is ahead by a length.

Love the photoshop! If your photoshop were a Filet Mignon, it would be Michelin 3 Star cuisine!
THERE IS NO SMART BROTHER IN THIS FAMILY.
Hilarious!!!
Hilarious that the “dumb” brother doesn’t want to be referred to as the dumb brother and so mistakenly claims the term means something else. Oh, the irony–it hurts!
This event and the reaction of ‘Fredo’ is the gift that will keep on giving for years to come!!
Great imagery Dianny!!! I would add that Andrew reminds me of Sonny with his bull headed approach to everything.
The character of ‘Michael Corleone will not be cast in this sequel……..
No one could not find a member of the Cuomo family smart enough to play the character.
Profanity – The last refuge of the weak-minded.
“And thanks to that viral video and the Streisand Effect, for this week anyway, Chris is ahead by a length.”
Speaking of horse races, I feel sorry for his wife. She wakes up every day with that bloody horse’s ass in the bed with her.
I always thought Fredo meant “a guy who can show you a good time in Havana”
What’s the problem? Doesnt everyone want to have a good time in Havana?
Fredo C. could defuse this whole thing by doing something very simple. Whenever anybody taunts him by calling him Fredo, he could smile, point at them, and say, “You lose! Thanks for playing!” and then walk away. I’m confident the taunts would cease after a short while.
I say could defuse because this approach is only theoretically possible. It will never happen this way. Fredo couldn’t possibly do this because he is Fredo.
I can’t wait to hear the ‘Fredo’ chant at the next Trump rally.
FREEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOO
FREEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOO
You know it’s gonna happen!
He looks more like Frodo.
