Give that girl a raise … or else

Give that girl a raise

The nerve of us selfish Americans expecting members of Congress to make ends meet on $174K a year!  We are really awful, awful people!  They need a raise!  Why won’t we give them a raise?!

It’s just so, like, unfair and you know!  I mean, like, the cost of living and stuff!

It’s like totally not fair that, like, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can’t get a raise over her $174K a year because, like, you know, everybody should get a raise.  And, like, it’s not a raise anyway!  It’s like, you know, a cost of living increase!

And, if, like, she doesn’t get her raise, I mean, cost of living increase, she just might have to, like, you know, exploit legal loopholes to make more money!

So, you taxpayers, stop being all selfish and stuff and fork over more of your hard-earned money so Alex can get her raise, I mean, cost of living increase!

Or else.

Wages are rising for people who actually, you know, work for a living.

And, really, aside from asking dimwitted questions to smarter witnesses and Instagramming and “slaying” people on Twitter, what exactly does this dummy do for a living?

You don’t just get a raise because you want one.  That’s not how it works.

There is absolutely nothing this Congress has done that screams, “Boy! Get those folks a raise!! Look at how productive, focused and serious they are!!”

The government isn’t your employer, Alex.  We, the American people are.

And the fact is, you have done not one thing to even earn your $174K salary – let alone a pay increase.

Besides, the people who will be burdened with paying your salary are, by and large, not making $174K a year (plus free healthcare, plus a lifetime pension, plus all the other perks that go with being a member of Congress).

In 2017, the national average wage index was $50,321.89 a year.

Now, I know Alexandria isn’t good with math, but that means she earns more than three times the national average.

(Point of fact, in 2018, I earned 5% of what Alexandria does. So you’ll excuse me if her whining over her measly $174K a year is falling on deaf ears here.)

Nobody put a gun to her head and said, “Quit this bartending job and run for Congress!”

And nobody put a gun to her head after she won and said, “Now that you’re in DC, you must live in a bougie, upscale neighborhood with really expensive rents!!!”

It isn’t the taxpayers’ responsibility to pad your paycheck so you can keep buying expensive clothes while living in the pricey Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington.

For Pete’s sake.  In 2013 when I lost my job of ten years and started working for myself, the first thing I did was cancel my cable TV.  Cable became a luxury I couldn’t afford.  I wear my clothes until they wear out, then I go to Walmart and buy a new pair of jeans or a new pair of sneakers or whatever.  It’s called “living within your means.”  To me, a luxury item is renting a movie from iTunes.  And the last time I ate out was in 2012 (the same year I bought my last new iPhone).

It’s bad enough taxpayers have to foot the bill for AOC’s $174K a year for a job she is woefully unqualified for.  But must we also be financially burdened with her desire to live an upscale lifestyle?

We’re not your friggin’ ATM, you greedy little socialist!

And the nerve of her demanding we fork over more of our earnings to her to keep her from becoming a corrupt, money-grubbing politician.

Stop treating us like hostages and start living within your means.

We aren’t your collective Sugar Daddy, you ungrateful little goblin.

Personally, I think we should reduce the salaries of those serving in Congress.  They’re pretty much part-time employees as it is.

If, by some chance, Congress passes a law that increases our liberty and prosperity, we would agree to a $5,000 bonus for every member who voted for said law.  And they have to accept a $5,000 reduction in their pay for every law they vote for that reduces our liberty and prosperity.

They work for us.  We’re their employers.

So if any changes to their $174K a year salary are to happen, their employers should make that determination based solely on job performance and accomplishments.

And if AOC doesn’t like that, well, she’s free to resign and go back to bartending for tips.

Problem is she represents the “Entitled Generation” who seem to believe college should be free, student loans should be “forgiven” (read paid by taxpayers), medicare for all, every building in the U.S. should be upgraded for energy efficiency, high-speed trains should replace airplanes, fossil fuels should be outlawed, and guaranteed raises should be part of everyone’s employment.
    Have I missed anything?

A Raise? For Congress? FOR WHAT??!!??
Name one damn worthwhile accomplishment, from these bumbs, since the nutty leftist got the majority in the House.
A raise? They all need a kick in the ass as a reminder that they are public servants working for their citizen masters.

I suspect that Oh-It’s-Me ‘earned’ more on the side, than she did bar tending. Depending on where she was wiping down counters, that extracurricular moonlighting may have even been a legal loophole, or two.

So….Either I get a raise or I might resort to unethical behavior to supplement my lavish lifestyle. Got it. I think I’ll run that by my boss tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I live in a small town just north of Chicago and our village trustees are always voting themselves raises. Trustees used to voluntarily serve out of love for the community. Now they get a salary to attend a board meeting 4 times a month. These jokers have started to push to get free health care and pensions, as if they are employees! They keep getting elected, because no one in our town stays informed or votes, so their friends keep voting them back into office. They also gladly accept box seats to Chicago sporting events, concert tickets, airline tickets, and even discounted building of a second house in a warmer climate from developers wanting to build in our town-all illegal. Meanwhile our streets and sewers are falling apart and other basic services are hurting, because there aren’t enough workers being hired to keep up with it. I’m not surprised by AOC. The corruption runs deep and starts at the local level.
