What is it, dear?
Uhh, there’s just a lot…
A lot of flowers.
Yeah, like a ton of flowers.
A plethora of flowers.
A load of flowers.
Thank you! I get so many compliments on this room.
Yeah, are they moving?
It looks like it, doesn’t it? There’s foil in the paper and it
gives it that illusion. Isn’t it terrific?
B&B-ers love a peaceful setting so that they can unwind from
their hectic lives. What business are you in, dear?
Oh, me? Uh, publishing.
Now if you need anything, you just ring down or come down
cuz I love company. And, oh, I don’t want to forget to give
you our activity list. Never a dull moment around here.
Yes, thank you.
Okay, I think we just found the first room in the history of
the world that would’ve made Liberace say ‘Whoa. Step back.
No one’s that gay.’
[From Gilmore Girls, “Road Trip to Harvard”]
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Senate Minority Leader Harry “Land Deal” Reid is calling for Florida Congressman Alan “Caveman” Grayson to drop out of the Florida Democrat primary race to fill Marco Rubio’s Senate seat.
Saying that Grayson seems to “have no moral compass” over his unethical practices in promoting a hedge fund based in the Cayman Islands, Reid said:
“These deeply troubling allegations should disqualify anyone from a seat in the U.S. Senate. His actions aren’t just disgraceful to the Democratic Party, they disgrace the halls of Congress.”
Can you believe this? We finally found a first Democrat in the history of the world that would make Harry Reid say, “Whoa, step back. No one’s that corrupt.”
Just how disgraceful must you be for Reid to call you disgraceful?
And if Harry Reid believes at some point you’re too corrupt to run for office, how in the name of sweet fancy Moses did Hillary Clinton escape his notice?
Now, I don’t know if the allegations against Grayson are true or not. The New York Times clearly thinks there’s some merit to the story. Which, to be fair, isn’t saying much.
But Grayson is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for his role in this shady hedge fund. Not that being censured by the House Ethics Committee is a career-killer. Just ask Maxine Waters.
I’d venture to guess that there is substance behind the allegations, not because Reid wants him out, but because, well, we’re talking about Alan Grayson here. Let’s be honest. He’s so sleazy, he makes Chicago politicians blush.
But the fact that Harry Reid is using this as a reason to drum Grayson out of the race may just be a matter of pretense. The DNC wants Democrat Congressman Patrick Murphy to be the guy running for Rubio’s old seat, not Grayson. My guess is, Reid, who has never been very concerned about ethics or a lack of moral fiber in his entire life, is simply taking advantage of Grayson’s ethical troubles to clear the field for Murphy.
Though Reid is retiring, do not doubt for a moment that he does not want to do everything he can to ensure that the Democrats regain the Senate in 2016 (something that is very probable). Grayson is too much of a clown and an idiot to be trusted to guarantee Senate Democrats a win in Florida.
And, because Harry Reid lacks moral fiber, he isn’t above manipulating Grayson’s legal troubles to his advantage.
