Say, did you know that Kirsten Gillibrand officially kicked off her Presidential campaign outside of Trump International Hotel and Tower nine days ago?
If you were clueless about that, you’re not alone.
There she was in the heart of Manhattan – one of the most densely populated areas of the country – and Kirsten’s “crowd” was about a thousand people.
To highlight her “bravery,” Kirsten “bravely” stood with Trump Tower as a backdrop to show how “brave” she was.
It was almost as if she was “bravely” calling out Donald Trump – who was on his way back to DC from Florida at the time and nowhere near Manhattan.
It’s easy to call President Trump a “coward” while standing in the middle of deep blue Manhattan when the President is hundreds of miles away.
But Kirsten Gillibrand believed this made her look sooooo brave.
You know a candidate has zero enthusiasm when, despite staging her BIG ANNOUNCEMENT in the middle of the largest city in America, she can’t gather more than a thousand people.
But this is how clueless Kirsten Gillibrand is.
Despite polling at between zero and one percent, Gillibrand really believes she’s got the wind at her back.
Today over at Front Page Magazine, Daniel Greenfield penned the most scathing and humorous column about Kirsten’s clueless campaign launch: “What if you launch a Presidential Campaign and no one shows up?”
The sub-title made me laugh out loud: “Welcome to the worst 2020 kickoff rally in America.”
Here’s a bit of what Greenfield wrote:
There was nothing “brave” about venturing into the Upper West Side, where the locals would rather commit ritual suicide with a spork or shop at Walmart, before voting for Trump. Starting your rally in a place where Hillary Clinton won 80% of the vote isn’t brave. It’s cowardly. Gillibrand would have shown more courage by going back to her old district where Hillary only won 54% of the vote.
But instead her campaign threw up a giant American flag and then brought out two illegal aliens.
“Our next president will lead with bravery. Our next president with be Kirsten Gillibrand,” declared Monica Sibri, an illegal alien who won’t be able to vote for Gillibrand.
Let’s face it, only someone without her finger on the pulse of the American electorate would think kicking off her 2020 campaign with speeches from illegal aliens is a good idea.
Honestly, has there ever been anyone more clueless than Kirsten Gillibrand?
Any old how. Greenfield goes on:
It was a balmy spring day in the Big Apple with sunshine and a high of 60. The NYPD, out in force, had roped off blocks to accommodate the crowds of the brave expected to turn out on Trump’s doorstep.
The actual audience barely filled half a block according to photojournalist Pamela Hall. The Washington Times estimated that the turnout amounted to 1,000 people. The New York Times offered no estimates, but conceded that the crowd was “small”. It was so small that most of the media coverage consisted of close-up photos to avoid exposing just how few people had bravely showed up to the 2020 kickoff rally.
Ever since Kirsten first hinted that she might run in 2020, I’ve been saying she really should take the hint and stay out of the race before she embarrasses herself.
Well, too late for that, I guess.
To leap into a national race when you are nothing more than a vapid, unaccomplished flip-flopper is never a good idea.
But to leap into a national race when you come from a state that will vote for any dimwitted bint with a D after her name is tremendously stupid.
As I said back in January, Kirsten has never faced a competitive race. She is untested and unchallenged.
Of course it doesn’t help that her speeches sound like she cribbed from an Inspiration-a-Day calendar. Nor does it help that Kirsten Gillibrand is the most craven flip-flopper in modern American politics.
Which I pointed out last month:
Kirsten Gillibrand is a follower. She gloms on to “movements” and positions when she thinks are politically advantageous to her.
She’s a hanger-on, not a leader.
Sure, clueless Kirsten might believe she has the wind at her back. But in reality, she is like a weightless plastic grocery bag being tossed about in a filthy alley — discarded and ignored.
More from Greenfield’s column:
What do you do when you launch a presidential campaign and there are more reporters, interns, and activists than actual voters? Since it’s the 2020 race, you scream even more loudly against Trump.
“He puts his name in bold on every building,” Gillibrand babbled, looking back and forth at her two teleprompters. “He does all of this because he wants you to believe he is strong. He is not. Our president is a coward.”
Gillibrand wouldn’t be the first member of Congress desperately taunting Trump in the hopes that he would notice her and give her some credibility. But sadly, Trump didn’t so much as diss her on Twitter.
The rant escalated. The hotel was a “a shrine to greed, division, and vanity”. Unable to taunt Trump, the senator from New York was reduced to taunting an inanimate object. She told the small gathering that, “the greater strength by far, is ours” even though the evidence made it all too clear that she was wrong.
I get why Jesse Kelly refers to Elizabeth Warren’s 2020 run as the “Campaign of Cringe.”
But, really, that label is more suited to the clueless Kirsten Gillibrand.
As Greenfield puts it, “This wasn’t a campaign rally. It was a humiliating disaster.”
And yet the clueless Gillibrand doesn’t seem to notice. Greenfield points out this cringeworthy quote:
“Years from now we will look back at this moment,” Gillibrand emoted, in the voice of the prom queen telling all the less popular kids how much their praise means to her.
Actually, I doubt that clueless Kirsten will need to wait years to look back on that moment. It’ll be more like months. And trust me, she won’t be looking back with glowing pride.
Instead, as Cordelia Chase put it in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, “You must look back on that and just cringe.”
