Let’s talk about Garland, Texas

Garland 2015

When the news broke that a Broward County deputy failed to even attempt to engage the murderer at Stoneman Douglas High School, non-gun-owners on Twitter erupted with excuses for the guy.

Here are just a few examples of their pretzel logic.

Hey, dummy. He’s a cop. It’s his job to “face a maniac with an AR-15.”

Ah, yes. Lawrence O’Donnell. I’m not surprised he feels this way. After all handguns have hammers. And we all know how hammers make him crazy.

Yes, that’s the nub of these idiots’ argument: How can we expect someone armed with a handgun to take on a maniac with an AR-15?!

It’s impossible!

Nobody could possibly do that!

Well I think Garland, Texas is a prime example of how wrong these idiots are.

So let’s hop in the Way-Back Machine to Garland on May 3, 2015.

This is the day of the Draw Muhammad contest when two Islamic radicals armed with AKs attempted to attack the event.

Garland police officer Greg Stevens spotted them as they exited a vehicle – each carrying a 100-round, drum-fed AK-style rifle.

And he took them down – both of them – using a Glock 21 .45 caliber pistol (that’s a handgun you anti-gun dummies).

From Police One:

Stevens immediately drew his Glock 21 pistol and engaged Simpson with four to five rounds as Simpson fired at him and Joiner with the rifle.

As Stevens fired, he slowly advanced on the suspects from 15 yards away, pressing the attack on the pair as he fired “rhythmically,” obtaining a “decent sight picture” for each round. Stevens was conscious of the fact he had to make his hits count, and his deliberation was rewarded with the sight of Simpson falling to the ground and dropping his rifle.

Switching to the next threat, Stevens pivoted to the left and fired at the driver, Nadir Soofi, who also wore soft armor and LBE, and had a backpack and a pistol. As Soofi rounded the back of the car with his rifle raised in the firing position, his left side was exposed to Stevens, who drew careful aim and shot Soofi in the elbow, above the elbow, the side of the chest and the shoulder, as he continued to advance and fire at a controlled pace.

The only people who died in Garland that day were the two ISIS terrorists. Because a good guy armed with a handgun stopped two men armed with “assault weapons.”

This is what police officers train for. It’s what they do.

And this argument that someone trained and armed with a handgun is no match for someone armed with a semi-automatic rifle is absurd.

This was the very first on duty-shooting Garland officer Greg Stevens ever participated in. And because of him nobody was murdered by those two heavily-armed madmen.

Trying to make excuses for a law enforcement officer’s refusal to rush toward the sound of gunfire is troubling to me. Because it is precisely what they are trained to do.

But what’s even more troubling is these same people would rather leave children easy targets tucked within a “gun-free zone.”

They don’t want “solutions.” They want us disarmed.

And they are completely okay with our only armed defense being police officers who are too afraid to come to our aid.

Garland did not become a bloodbath thanks Officer Stevens and his Glock 21.

Was he outgunned?

But, unlike the deputy in Parkland, Officer Stevens didn’t let that stop him from doing his job.

Now we hear 3 more Broward cops were on scene and did not enter. This seems like a systemic leftist progressive infection of the law enforcement system in that county.

    Consider this:

You take my guns away for the good of society and a shooting incident comes about.
I am or my kids are in range.

4 Broward County law enforcement officers show up and I have to wait for the shooter to run out of bullets before they come in to stop him?????

Thank you but no. I would rather protect myself with my own gun if this is the best law enforcement can do to protect me and mine.

Liberal logic: 911 firefighters arriving at the twin towers should have stayed back a safe distance until everyone had exited the buildings.

How can you argue that the police were “out-gunned” but then argue that the civilian population should disarm against Trump and his tyrannical administration.
