You know, I got to thinking about it and I don’t think I’ve seen hide nor hair from Michelle Obama in quite some time. At least, not since she and Barack bickered their way off Marine One after their 17-Day, 3-day-a-week manicure Vacation to Martha’s Vineyard.
Oh, to be a fly buzzing around those two. What do you suppose she’s saying?
Any old how. Anybody else wondering? What’s FLOTUS been up to?
I know. I know.
But given the usual ubiquity of Michelle, I find her absence strangely creepy and disconcerting. Like how after you get an ugly mole removed from your face, you spend a week or so feeling odd that it’s gone?
So, off I went to troll Michelle’s Twitter feed.
My feeling is. It’s best to know what dangers lurk so you can be prepared to meet them head-on.
There was the typical “healthy eating” tweets and bragging about being responsible for the drop in “childhood obesity.” Of course you are, Michelle. Kids are choosing to starve rather than eat your miserable school lunches.
And then, I came across this tweet:
“Thank you for being a role model for young girls around the world?”
Imagine a young girl in Iran deciding to emulate Beyonce and walk outside wearing this.
We’re German schoolgirls who have to change how we dress so as not to entice the Muslim invaders into raping us. What would you recommend we wear to make sure we’re completely covered?
Your fans from Deutschland
Well, she is covered.
Time for church, kids!
Make sure you wear your finest dresses!
“Golly, I wonder what Beyonce wears when she dresses up?”
What exactly makes Beyonce a “role model,” Michelle?
Do you even understand what the term means?
And in this vast and populated planet, the best “role model” for girls around the world that you can think of is Beyonce?!
How about Brigitte Gabriel?
Brigitte was born into a Christian family in Lebanon. At the age of ten, her family’s home was destroyed during the Lebanese Civil War. They spent seven years living in a bomb shelter, sneaking out only to get food and water. Living in fear of being slaughtered by the Muslims. She is now a leading expert on National Security and the threat posed by radical Islamic extremism. She is an author and the founder of Act for America.
Or perhaps Ayaan Hirsi Ali?
Ayaan is a Somali-born Muslim woman who has spoken out forcefully about the violence and oppression Islamic women face. Ayaan was a victim herself — suffering the horrific practice of female genital mutilation, a forced marriage and the all the indignities that come from the Muslim view of women. Today she fights to put an end to this violence and degradation, bravely speaking out despite the threats to her own life.
Are not these women more worthy of the title “role model” for girls around the world, Michelle?
Think of what they have overcome in their lives. The violence, fear, and oppression they have endured. And look at what they have accomplished. Look at who they have become.
Not to be rude or anything, Michelle. But your idea of a Role Model is kinda lame.
With amazing, strong women with powerful stories and voices like those of Brigitte and Aayan, the best you can come up with to be a “role model” to young girls around the world is a half-naked pop star who cakes on more make-up than a drag queen with five-o’clock shadow to go out on stage and jiggle her half-naked ass in front of screaming fans?
Some role model, Michelle.
