The NFL and the Networks take the coward’s way out

So here’s the plan for today’s NFL games.

Both Fox Sports and ESPN will simply cut not broadcast the National Anthem — and the accompanying protests.

Because if you can’t see it, it must not be happening, right?

The truth is, they never used to air the pregame stuff like the anthem. But began doing so when they thought the protests would make for good TV.

But now that they know it’s killing their ratings, they’ll go back to avoiding it.

Hate to tell you guys, but there’s no putting this genie back into the bottle.

The problem isn’t that networks are showing the protests.

The problem is the invasion of politics and social justice into sports.

And if you think hiding it from the viewers will turn the ratings slide around, you really have underestimated the irritation and disgust Americans feel toward the NFL right now.

But I get it.

The NFL was a gold mine for networks for years.

And this invasion of showboating social justice is killing the golden goose.

Just like it is killing universities.

Leftism is a cancer.

And unfortunately for the NFL and their network broadcasters, the cancer has metastasized.

Breaking away to commercial or staying in the studio for pre-game prattling is like trying to defeat cancer with an aspirin.

Too little.

And far too late.

Too little, too late, indeed. I WAS a life-long, die-hard football junky who cancelled my NFL Sunday ticket after 20 years and haven’t watched a game in a month. And I’m not going back. As I’ve argued to people who are on the other side of the aisle, whether you agree with the supposed issue at the core of these protests or not, is irrelevant. When I watch football or TV, or go to the movies, a show or a concert I want one thing – to be entertained. I’m not the least bit interested in what these ungrateful “deep thinkers” have to say and if I can’t just enjoy a temporary escape from all this nonsense, I’ll simply stop watching and going. The 1st Amendment guarantees everyone’s freedom of speech – including those in the National Felons League – but nowhere are they shielded from the consequences of that speech. If they can’t just shut up and dance, then those of us who formerly paid their bloated salaries have an answer for them – Click!

I totally agree with what John posted. I gave it up, including my football pool. Enough is enough.

BTW…who do they think they are fooling? NO Saints stood for anthem but took a knee for a moment of silence for murdered Black cop.

Fox is, and has been for over 10 years, a liberal/progressive company. Republican, yes, but liberal, Reagan haters. In ’09 there were 2 far left networks(For + CNN) that said 90% of Americans wanted Romneycare 2.0. they even had The Reagan hater himself on at least 4 times between 3/09 + 9/09 to praise it. when the Kansas vote got closer they were much faster than CNN to back off the90% lie. But the week before the vote (where 75% of real Americans said kill Romneycare 2.0!) Can still said it would win easily. These same 2 progressive networks told us 12 months ago that Clinton would win!
