Back on December 10th, Barack Obama’s Weekly Address was an infomercial for Obamacare.
It wasn’t the first time he used the Presidential Weekly Address to channel Ron Popeil. But it was his last.
In my post, Crazy Barry is Back! I wrote this:
How can you not be embarrassed to have this yahoo as President?!
Obamacare has been the “law of the land” for nearly seven years.
And this chucklehead is still hawking it like he’s friggin’ Ron Popeil.
What’s hilarious is how much Barack Obama and his Democrat cohorts mocked Donald Trump for selling Trump steaks many years ago.
”Oh, how embarrassing! To have a guy as President who, back when he wasn’t President, went on TV to try and sell his line of steaks.”
Yet here we have a sitting President of the United States turning his weekly address into an Infomercial for Obamacare.
Something tells me when President-Elect Trump becomes President Trump, he’ll be using his weekly addresses to actually keep the American people informed with what his Administration is doing.
Turns out, my prediction was right on the nose.
Boy, I just love it when I’m right!
So far, President Trump has done two weekly addresses. And in both he gives us a progress report on what he tackled in the previous week.
Unlike Obama who used the Presidential Weekly Address as just another way to continue his never-ending campaign, President Trump clearly sees this as a way to stay accountable to the American people.
It wasn’t a hard prediction to make.
After all, this isn’t Mr. Trump’s first time as a chief executive.
He understands that as President, he works for us and therefore is accountable to us.
It’s refreshing to see a President use the Presidential Weekly Address to provide a progress report on what he and his Administration did for the past seven days.
But honestly? I can understand why Barack didn’t utilize the weekly address as a progress report.
In order to report on your progress during the week, you have to have actually done something that could be considered progress.
Could you imagine?
”My fellow Americans. This past week, I worked a total of seven hours. I skipped four intelligence briefings and ate lunch with Vice President Biden twice. On Wednesday, I flew to Miami where I gave a speech at a DNC fundraiser. Then, I flew to Los Angeles and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel. I was five over par and only got stuck in a sand trap twice.
God bless you and God bless America.”
Forget the breathless hysteria coming from dinks like Debra Messing or the staff of CNN.
It’s clear that Donald Trump takes this job of President seriously.
And more importantly, he is clearly committed to remaining at all times accountable to the American people.
Here are the videos for President Trump’s first two weekly addresses.
Watch them. You’ll see what I mean.
