I am almost at a loss for words over the unexpected death of Justice Antonin Scalia. When I saw the news my stomach dropped. This is not only a tragedy for his family and friends, it is a tragic loss for our country.
This nation is balancing on a slender thread of Liberty. And one of our fiercest defenders is lost. When a warrior falls while holding the line, it is up to us to ensure that the line holds.
It shouldn’t be this way. The fate of our great nation should not be at risk from the death of one man. But this is the sad fact. If we lose the Supreme Court, the damage to our Republic may be irreparable.
There is hope. The Republican majority in the Senate could prevent any Obama nominee from being confirmed. Of course, I would be lying if I said I had confidence that the Republicans in the Senate could be trusted to hold the line as firmly as Justice Scalia did his whole career.
This is a terribly sad day for the United States of America. The stakes couldn’t be higher. If we do not elect a solid Constitutional Conservative in November, any hope of maintaining a Supreme Court that upholds our Constitution will be lost.
We must hold the line. We owe it to the memory of Justice Scalia. We owe it to the nation and to the generations of Americans not yet born.
