Thank you John Paul Stevens!

Today, former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens penned an op-ed for the New York Times saying the time has come to repeal the Second Amendment.

And I just want to thank him.

For years we have been saying the goal of the Left is to strip the American people of any protections of their unalienable right to self-defense.

And for years, the Left has responded with the typical “well-I-nevering” one comes to expect when you point out their actual objectives.

”This isn’t about banning guns or taking away your right to bear arms! This is about common sense legislation! And only a right-wing gun nut would think we want to repeal the Second Amendment! What’s wrong, snowflake? You sound paranoid! LOL!”

Narrator: It’s about repealing the Second Amendment.

And we have John Paul Stevens to thank for letting the cat out of the bag.

John Paul Stevens

So thank you, John Paul Stevens!

Of course the Second Amendment doesn’t grant us the right to keep and bear arms. Instead, it is there as a safeguard against the Government attempting to deprive us of this unalienable right.

“The right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

But the Left wants our unalienable rights infringed. Not just the Second Amendment. They’re not too keen on the First Amendment either.

And that’s always been the case.

Like I’ve said countless times, the Left pushes too hard and too far.

It’s inevitable.

They mistake media saturation for “momentum.”

And because they believe they have “momentum,” they just keep pushing.

In the end, they push too hard and too far and it blows up in their faces like a trick cigar.

Trust me, seven months from the Midterms, this kind of rhetoric is not welcome news for the Democrats in Congress.

Do you think the Democrats want to run on a platform of repealing the Second Amendment?

Short answer: No.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in Claire McCaskill’s office today as she reads this op-ed – the ink from the paper rubbing off on her fingers as she clutches it tightly in rage.

But not just her. I’m guessing Senators Manchin, Baldwin, Heitkamp, Tester, and Nelson are probably experiencing the same sputtering anger.

You don’t think these know-nothing teens who are the current face of the anti-gun movement won’t glom on to this far-fetched proposal to repeal the Second Amendment?

Of course they will. After all, it isn’t as if their emotional responses are tempered by age, experience, history, civics or a working understanding of modern politics.

Even before John Paul Stevens let the cat out of the bag, one of these Parkland teens proudly declared that if we give them an inch, they’ll take a mile.

And what better mile than repealing the Second Amendment?

And thanks to the cheerleaders in the media and their fellow ignoramuses on social media, everything these children say gets amplified a hundred-fold.

Right about now, I’m guessing it’s dawning on those vulnerable Democrats in Congress that they created a monster that is now poised to devour them.

So thank you, John Paul Stevens!

Already, #RepealTheSecondAmendment is trending on Twitter. And loudmouth cranks with the brain wattage of a keychain flashlight are going all-in for it.

You thought gun sales and NRA memberships were off the charts before?

Just wait.

Except for the small contingent of über-Leftists in Congress, I’m guessing most Democrats in DC are spitting nails right about now. All thanks to John Paul Stevens.

The problem with the Left is they never know when to stop pushing. Once they get going, all bets are off.

And that’s especially true with this latest anti-gun push.

The news media’s exploitation of these children — coupled with the anti-gun activist groups propping them up – has created a false sense of overwhelming support and momentum for their cause that simply isn’t there.

And now that the cat is out of the bag, the reality of just how repugnant an idea repealing the Second Amendment is will be exposed.

Anybody with half a brain could have seen this coming.

It’s what I refer to as Operation Backfire.

They always push too far.

If I had to guess, I’d say there were a lot of people who fell for the lie that the Left doesn’t want to take away the Second Amendment. And I’d venture that even those people aren’t on board with what John Paul Stevens is advocating.

So thanks, John Paul Stevens. Thank you for pulling back the curtain and exposing the Left’s true goal.

I’m not saying we have nothing to fear in the midterms but I’m willing to bet that a lot of the Left think that the momentum is so great for their side that they will stay home thinking that “the other guy’s” vote will carry them to victory.

On a side note there was a brief article about a Democrat running for Sheriff in North Carolina that suggested that, if he came for your guns, prying them from your cold hands wouldn’t be an problem for him. For that comment I would tell him to bring extra body bags.

“Lefties: “We do not want to repeal the 2nd Amendment, you paranoid gun nuts!”

“Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they are not out to get you”

    – fine saying from the ’70’s

“…Because this is a “right” codified by the United States Constitutional Republic and thereby brought under its jurisdiction, the Constitutional Republic can divest its citizens of this right – something it has been doing incrementally for some time. On June 26, 2008, in District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S., the Supreme Court decided, five to four, that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to own and bear firearms. Although gun owners hailed Heller a victory, this battle (which is far from over) concerning the constitutional right to bear arms has diverted our attention from the larger and more consequential battle.

“Disconcerting as many Americans may find the erosion of the Second Amendment guarantee, what is even more disturbing is that five people have the power to decide whether United States citizens have the right to protect themselves and their families, to what degree, and with what weapons. The Supreme Court has ruled that Americans have the right to bear arms, but only until they say otherwise. Many Americans who celebrated Heller overlooked the fact that it can – and likely will – be overturned by a future court, just as its decision overturned United States v. Miller, 307 U.S. 174, rendered in 1939. If you look to the Second Amendment for your authority to bear arms, that authority is contingent upon the fickle nature of nine fallible human beings.

“The constitutional right to bear arms is in jeopardy since the Second Amendment could be overturned at any time by future amendment. This was attempted as recently as March 11, 1992, by Democratic Congressman Major Owens of New York, who proposed “…an amendment to the Constitution of the United States repealing the Second Amendment to the Constitution.”1 The well-regulated militia, provided for by the Second Amendment, was, for all practical purposes, terminated long ago….”
