Trump brings America First to the G-7

I saw this picture from the G-7 Summit on Twitter this morning. And it really say it all, doesn’t it?

After eight years of a President who desperately wanted to turn the United States into another Euro-weenie member of some misguided “New World Order,” Trump is like a cold slap of reality to those guys.

A nation’s leader should put the interests of his nation first.

But Obama didn’t do that.

In fact, he was proud that he put the “global community” ahead of American interests.

Back in 2014 speaking at the UN, Obama said this:

“On issue after issue, we cannot rely on a rule-book written for a different century. If we lift our eyes beyond our borders – if we think globally and act cooperatively – we can shape the course of this century as our predecessors shaped the post-World War II age. [Bold emphasis Dianny’s]

At the time, in my column “Parsing Pusillanimous Piffle” (which is now available in my second volume of columns, RANT 2.0: Even More Politics & Snark in the Age of Obama), I wrote:

America led the way in the twentieth century, not because it was thinking globally and acting cooperatively, but because America sought its own interests. It fought to preserve and protect its own sovereignty and freedom.

America stands for the unalienable rights of all man. Life. Liberty. Property.

And by maintaining and preserving the sanctity of those rights within our own nation, we can be a help to the world. Only by putting our nation’s interests first, can we be a help to the world.

If America doesn’t remain free, if America ceases to be the beacon of Liberty, how on earth can we expect to bring freedom and liberty to others?

Pursuing our own national interests is what allows America to have the strength and will to lift other peoples out of tyranny.

A rising tide lifts all boats. And a strong, prosperous, free United States was able to lift whole regions of the globe out of despotism and into freedom.

This is America First.

This is something President Trump intrinsically understands.

And this is exactly how President Trump leads.

For eight years we had a President who didn’t comprehend that.

Obama believed in knocking America down — so that we were no better than any other nation.

The truth is, the news media that quivered with spastic delight over Obama’s lack of interest in America’s interests can’t stand President Trump putting America first.

And they believe that Trump’s America First agenda will turn our allies against us.

But look at that picture again. Because that picture defies the so-called “experts” in the media.

President Trump will work with our allies. But, unlike Barack Obama, he will not abandon this nation’s interests in order to do it.

And sure. The other G-7 leaders might have talked tough before the summit. But all that changed when Trump arrived.

I like the way Sundance put it over at The Conservative Treehouse.

For context, the day before the G-7 began, French President Emmanuel Macron tweeted this:

Tough talk, that.

But it was just talk.

And here’s what Sundance said setting up a video of Trump and Macron at the G-7:

The best laid plans of mice-like men simply collapsed when the shadow of President Trump entered the G7 in Charlevoix, Canada.

It’s one thing to talk about the boss when he’s out of town; it’s another thing entirely when he’s sitting next to you. POTUS Trump sets the standard for the scale of influence. Really, it’s such a basic truth – it becomes self-evident.

Definitely click the link and watch the video. Macron’s tough talk on Twitter was nothing but smoke. It didn’t come from a place of strength and resolve.

And Sundance is right, when faced directly with a Leader who is strong and resolved, Macron collapses like a soufflé.

Working with and respecting our allies does not mean putting aside our own interests. This is something Barack Obama never understood.

And it’s why he spent so much time bending over and apologizing.

He was ashamed of America – our strength, our character, history, traditions, and culture.

So he came to summits like the G-7 as a penitent — groveling and prostrating himself to the New World Order.

And European nations couldn’t wait to trample all over us as a result.

That’s something that will never happen under President Trump.

He is unapologetically America First.

As a result, he is restoring America’s place and leadership in the world.

And one look at that picture shows without question that the other G-7 leaders know it.

America first? More like America alone.

That’s a title of a book by Mark Steyn. You should read it. You might learn something.

Rich Kane: We’re alone alright. We’re alone at the top of the list of the largest economies & the largest military. We’re alone as the only country built on the idea that the people are the sovereigns, not the ruling elites. We’re alone among nations with a Bill of Rights protecting our God given rights to express and protect ourselves as we see fit. Try asserting these rights against the Muslim rape gangs wreaking havoc in these Euro-weenie countries you’re so proud of and you’ll end up in the Gulag faster than you can say TommyRobinson. I for one am proud to be alone.
