Update on NY-24

Since I’ve been writing about the Democrat kerfuffle here in NY-24, I figured I should give you the latest update.

Yesterday, the full state Board of Elections ruled that DCCC-backed candidate Juanita Perez Williams had enough valid signatures to be on the primary ballot.

On Tuesday a Board of Elections panel made that recommendation, so I figured the full board would agree.

So despite the local Democrat party selecting Dana Balter – a visiting professor at Syracuse University – the DCCC succeeded in elbowing them out of the way.

Of course they did.

Now, don’t get me wrong.

I’m not a supporter of Dana Balter.

She’s a Democrat who wants to “stand up to Donald Trump.”

I guess 3.9% unemployment, the potential for peace on the Korean peninsula, the destruction of ISIS and a booming economy really annoy her.

Balter is a Leftist activist and one of the organizers of a local group that was established to oppose President Trump after he was elected.

Sounds like a charmer, doesn’t she?

But what irritates me about this is the Democrat Caucus in DC strong-arming local Democrats to get a shameless political climber onto the ballot. And that’s precisely what Juanita Perez Williams is.

She doesn’t give two craps about NY-24.

All Juanita cares about is Juanita Perez Williams.

And after a humiliating loss in the Syracuse Mayor’s race last November, Juanita hopes to use NY-24 as a stepping-stone to a larger political career.

Bottom line is neither Balter nor Perez Williams is running to represent the citizens of NY-24.

Balter is running to “stand up to Donald Trump” – in other words, she’s part of the ResistanceLOL.

Meanwhile, Perez Williams is running a vanity campaign.

There is a benefit, however, in having a primary between these two Leftists here in NY-24.

If the Syracuse mayoral race is any indication, underhanded attacks will probably be common in this primary. I also think both Democrats are going to try and out-“Leftie” each other. And in the November election, that will hurt the Democrats — no matter which of these broads wins.

NY-24 encompasses much more than deeply blue Syracuse.

And being an unhinged Leftist may play well here in the Salt City, but it won’t be in the rest of NY-24.

But to tell you the truth, I don’t even know if it will play well here in Syracuse. After all, Juanita lost the mayor’s race to an Independent in a blow-out.

And those negative attacks will come in handy when Republican Congressman John Katko runs against whomever wins.

Would Katko be worth voting for, or just another N.Y. rino?

Katko has a mixed bag. He’s good on some things, poor on others. He didn’t support Trump in the 2016 election. And his voting record is a mixed bag. However, his immigration votes have been good — including on Kate’s Law and defunding Sanctuary cities. However, he’s vastly better than either of these Leftie Democrats.
