Afghanistan: The Taxpayer Money Pit

Sharyl Attkisson’s “Full Measure” tackled the systemic waste, fraud and abuse in Afghanistan.

And it’s a sobering, infuriating report.

While Democrats in Congress clutch their pearls over five billion for our southern border, taxpayers have been sinking hundreds of billions into the money pit known as Afghanistan.

And for what?

Give this a watch.  You’ll be spitting nails.  But it’s a story that has to be told.

Here are a couple comments from Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction John Sopko worth repeating.

Sopko: We went out to a major construction project that we did for the Afghan military. It’s called the General Fahim a training center. It’s for the senior officers and technical officers of the Afghan military. And what you will see is a major problem we have. We build buildings but the Afghans can’t maintain them. We don’t consider the training for the Afghans. A wastewater treatment plant that is no longer functioning, raw sewage is flowing into streams and it’s all because the Afghans don’t know how to fix it. You will see a second wastewater treatment plant we built. Brand new, never been turned on because no one taught the Afghans how to turn it on. You will see a water treatment plant that hasn’t been functioning for years because the Afghans are incapable of designing or working with the system we gave them to input the chlorine. So none of the waters being cleaned.

Sopko: So these are millions of dollars of, of uh, programs and millions of dollars of construction that are not being used. So what you’re seeing is a constant problem. We give them buildings, we give them programs, we give them equipment, but we don’t plan for sustaining it, how they can sustain it either through training, money, or the will to sustain these programs. So there’s a lot of waste.

Angry yet?

You should be.

This is what happens when American taxpayers fund “nation building” with corrupt, inept and indifferent partners like those in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress are setting their hair on fire over securing our own Southern Border for just a tiny fraction of what we spend in Afghanistan every year.

It really is infuriating.

She is right! A HUGE MISTAKE that should have ended a decade ago! Swamp started it and swamp defends it! The Swamp has “skin in the game”. Of course their lives are never “on the line”!~
The Mutiny in France, as I type, could well happen in America.

Afghanistan is 400 miles of bad dirt roads lined with pickpockets on one side, snipers on the other, Freddy Krueger on one end, and Michael Myers on the other.

It is a doormat filled with punji sticks, a hostile parlor, treacherous porches, and suicidal dens. The bedrooms are mortuaries and the kitchen is toxic.

It is indeed where empires go to bleed before dying.

Get the heck out of Afghanistan and route that funding to a border wall to help protect the citizens of the US.
