Barack Obama still hates you and he’s not afraid to say it

Yesterday I was over at the New York Post, and a sidebar headline caught my eye.

In fact, it made me laugh out loud. So I tweeted out a screen capture and said this:

But yesterday evening, I started thinking about how that headline really does reveal another significant distinction between Donald Trump and Barack Obama.

Both Trump and Obama despise certain elements of the news media.

But where President Trump reserves his attacks for the news outlets specifically, Barack Obama isn’t content just attacking Fox News or, say, Rush Limbaugh. He has to attack the Americans who make up their audience.

Don’t underestimate why this is a significant distinction.

Donald Trump doesn’t go easy on CNN. But one thing he never does is attack CNN’s viewers.

Likewise, when he was running against Hillary, Trump savaged Hillary. But not once did he attack her supporters.

Now, I did.

But Donald Trump never did.

Hillary, on the other hand, not only attacked Donald Trump, but routinely savaged his supporters.

You may recall that a couple weeks before the 2016 election, I wrote about this significant distinction between Trump and Hillary.

What prompted my column was Mr. Trump saying of Hillary during the debate, “Such a nasty woman.”

Hillary’s entire campaign has been predicated on the notion that we must make history and elect the first woman President. We must rally behind Hillary. Hillary is what matters.
 
Not the United States of America or the American people.
 
Hillary.
 
“I’m with Her” by its design makes this election about Hillary Clinton not the country.
 
In contrast, Donald Trump has made this election about us. Putting America first. Getting Americans back to work. Keeping Americans safe.
 
You notice that when Hillary goes on the attack, she doesn’t limit her attacks to Donald Trump.
 
She attacks us — the American people.
 
We belong in a basket of deplorables because we are irredeemable and not American.
 
Hillary attacks the American people.
 
More specifically, Hillary attacks anybody who is not with her. Because if you’re not with Hillary, you aren’t worthy of being an American.
 
Because this election is about her. Not you.

In that respect, Hillary Clinton is a lot like Barack Obama.

Both Hillary and Obama hate the American people. And they’re not afraid to say it.

It isn’t enough for Obama to criticize Fox News. No. He has to insult the people who watch Fox News.

Because if you are not with him, you are against him. And if you are against him, you are not worthy of his respect.

But this isn’t the first time Obama has insulted or demeaned Americans with whom he disagrees. He did it for eight years.

Like when he called the Tea Party folks “teabaggers.”

And, lest we forget, even before he became President, Barack Obama couldn’t stop lobbing insults at us.

”They get bitter; they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them. Or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

There’s a reason that the Obama years were so divisive.

He himself perpetrated an “us” versus “them” mentality among Americans – one that Hillary doubled down on during the election.

The condescension that drips from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton is astonishing.

They hate us. And rather than keeping that hatred to themselves, they are very open about it.

Mocking and insulting Americans is not a bridge too far for these two.

They really do believe that if you do not share their ideology, you are fair game for their vitriolic and self-righteous attacks.

And the news media happily propagates this divisiveness on a daily basis. But of course they do.

For all his so-called “soaring speeches,” Obama’s disdain for Americans has never been a secret. And if he wasn’t afraid to attack us when he was our President, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s still willing to attacks us today.

We are now — just as we’ve always been — his enemy.
