Blood in the Sand

Ramadi Iraq on Sept. 29, 2006. On that day, [Navy SEAL Michael] Monsoor was part of a sniper overwatch security position with three other SEALs and eight Iraqi Army (IA) soldiers. An insurgent closed in and threw a fragmentation grenade into the overwatch position. The grenade hit Monsoor in the chest before falling to the ground. Positioned next to the single exit, Monsoor was the only one who could have escaped harm. Instead, he dropped onto the grenade to shield the others from the blast. Monsoor died approximately 30 minutes later from wounds sustained from the blast. Because of Petty Officer Monsoor’s actions, he saved the lives of his 3 teammates and the IA soldiers. Petty Officer Mike Monsoor was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in April 2008 for his actions on that day in Ramadi.

“The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant. I think there is a distinction between the capacity and reach of a bin Laden and a network that is actively planning major terrorist plots against the homeland versus jihadists who are engaged in various local power struggles and disputes, often sectarian.” [Obama’s January 2014 interview with David Remnick in The New Yorker]

From the May 15 Press Briefing with Deputy Press Secretary Schultz:

Question: Can you speak about the gains that ISIS has made in Ramadi, et cetera? There has been talk from the podium about progress that’s been made against ISIL. This obviously seems like a big setback. What is the White House assessment? Are we losing this war? Do we need to do something differently? And what is the White House doing to try and prevent this critical city from falling?

Among his answers, Schultz had this to day:

As a result of this effort, ISIL’s momentum has indeed been blunted, its ability to mass and maneuver forces degraded, its leadership cells pressured or eliminated, its command-and-control and supply lines severed.

“ISIL’s momentum has indeed been blunted.”

Ramadi has fallen to ISIS.

So much American blood in the sand.

And for what?

Barack Obama, so hell-bent on campaigning in 2012 for having kept his 2008 campaign promise to end the war in Iraq has made all that blood in the sand worthless.

As Soopermexican points out at The Right Scoop, “Elections have consequences, and so do foolish electorates.”

The lives lost in Ramadi, in Fallujah, in Iraq mean nothing to Barack Hussein Obama. They are worthless. All that blood in the sand is worthless.

Blood in the Sand

Really, what do the military mean to Obama?

Well, he himself said while visiting troops in South Korea, “You guys make a pretty good photo-op!”

Obama in his never-been-worn bomber jacket, still out-of-the-box shiny and new, shaking hands with pre-selected servicemen and women who correctly answered the question “who voted for Obama?”

As Ben Shapiro pointed out in a May, 2014 article at Breitbart:

April 2009. Obama made a surprise visit to Iraq, apparently to troops “cheering wildly,” according to media accounts. But accusations flew in the aftermath that the cheering troops had been shuffled – one sergeant reportedly wrote that soldiers were “pre-screened, asked by officials ‘Who voted for Obama?,’ and then those who raised their hands were shuffled to the front of the receiving line. They even handed out digital cameras and asked them to hold them up.”

What good is the military to Obama other than a photo-op?

What difference does all that blood in the sand make to this man?

This man who repeatedly declares, “I have no greater responsibility as Commander-in-Chief than the safety and security of Americans” put his political aspirations ahead of the safety and security of Americans. He put his electoral chances ahead of the men and women who fought in Iraq. His concern for his own political life negated the sacrifice of so many American lives whose blood now mixes with the sands of Fallujah, Basra, Takrit, Bagdhad, Haditha, Mosul, Ramadi and so many other places in Iraq.

Saturday was Armed Forces Day. And, rather than honor the men and woman who serve in these Armed Forces of the United States of America, Barack Obama went golfing.

Rather than recognize the sacrifice of those who died in the fight against the insurgents in Ramadi, Barack Obama went golfing.

Rather than release a statement in honor of Armed Forces Day, Barack Obama releases a statement recognizing “International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.”

Ironic given the fact that ISIS tends to toss homosexuals from the roofs of buildings. The same ISIS who has now taken Ramadi because Barack Obama had to scamper out of Iraq like a kid who lost a marble game.

So much blood in the sand.

And it was all in vain.

Victory is never the goal when a Democrat wages war.

And rather than ordering hundreds of air strikes a day, Obama uses air power mincingly — having ordered a total of only 3,900 air strikes against ISIS since they began last August.

This is like trying to put out a forest fire by throwing a drinking glass filled with water at it every few hours.

Obama has always been squeamish about the use of military force.

And his hesitations, his indecisions, his fear of the strength and might of the US Military results in lives lost. It results in sacrifices wasted.

Barack Obama may as well unzip his fly and piss all over the blood in the sand of Ramadi for the good he’s done as Commander-in-Chief.
