Are Democrats falling for their own propaganda?

The brazenness with which the Democrats in Congress promote illegal aliens leads me to suspect that they’re making the same mistake that tripped up Hillary Clinton in 2016.

They are falling for their own propaganda.

This is always a risk when you exist in an echo chamber.

As I mentioned in my previous post, two days after the 2016 election, I wrote that Hillary Clinton’s biggest mistake was believing the propaganda advanced by her own campaign and perpetrated through a compliant media.

At the time, I cited a Washington Free Beacon article titled Top Clinton Adviser: She Didn’t ‘Contemplate Losing’ the White House. But of course she didn’t. She fell for her own propaganda.

I wrote:

That’s the problem with living in an echo chamber – even an echo chamber of your own making.

While Hillary saw Tuesday as a stunning, unexpected defeat, most of us on Planet Earth kinda knew it was coming.

No. Not because we’re prescient.

We just live in the real world.

And after eight years of Obama, most folks in the real world have enough sense not to fall for the propaganda peddled by this Enslaved Press.

I believe the Democrats are making the exact same mistake that Hillary made.

They really do believe that going all-in for illegal aliens will lead to electoral victory – not because it’s true, but because that’s the propaganda they’ve coordinated with the media.

And that is exactly why they chose to shut down the Government.

They, along with the news media are advancing this narrative that Americans are so supportive of the Democrats far-Left agenda, the 2018 Midterms will be a “Blue Wave.”

But rather than remember that this narrative is false, the Democrats got bamboozled by their own propaganda.

So they shut down the government thinking everybody would side with them.

And just like Hillary on election night, the Democrats spent the weekend getting slapped in the face by reality.

Because, just like Hillary, the Democrats refuse to leave their echo chamber. They refuse to pay attention to the mood in the country.

Instead, just like Hillary, they fell for their own propaganda.

Within their echo chamber, all they hear is “Americans are with us on immigration!” “There’s going to a Blue Wave because the Resistance is mobilized and fired up!” “Americans don’t support Trump’s agenda!!!”

It’s all a lie.

And yet, the Democrats have become ensnared by their own lie.

Yesterday, I mentioned the latest Harvard/Harris poll that shows not only do the majority of Americans want to put a stop to illegal immigration, they also want to reduce the number of legal immigrants coming to the US as well. And, the vast majority support Trump’s push toward a merit-based system.

That is reality.

But the Democrats are so busy falling for their own propaganda, they aren’t paying any attention to that.

That’s why Slippery Dick Durbin doesn’t think twice about tweeting something like this:

I’m not going to let anything distract me from my singular mission: making sure that Dreamers have the protection and certainty about their future that they deserve.

Look at the comment-to-retweet ratio on that tweet.

Dick Durbin has been sucked into a propaganda echo chamber. And because of it he just can’t see that proudly and publicly declaring that his “singular mission” is protecting illegal aliens is not a particularly good message to advance right now.

Hell, even Chuck Schumer got sucked in.

How else do you explain his willingness to go on Rachel Maddow’s show last night and attacking the “Tea Party” for being “horrible and disgusting?”

Honestly, these guys just keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

When over three quarters of Americans want to limit even legal immigration, deciding to call that “horrible and disgusting” is just as bad as Hillary calling Trump supporters “deplorable and irredeemable.”

And the mistake they are making again is believing their own propaganda.

This is exactly why I am not falling for these claims that the 2018 Midterms will be a “Blue Wave.”

Of course they’re telling us that — just like they told us Hillary would win in a blow-out.

It was propaganda then. And it’s propaganda now.

The purpose of this propaganda is exactly the same today as it was in 2016 – to dispirit Trump supporters and leave us feeling like there’s no reason to turn up on election day.

The mistake Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin (and every other Democrat) are making is they themselves have forgotten the purpose of this propaganda.

So they push too hard and too far to the point where they, like Hillary before them, angers the voters so completely that we can’t wait to vote in November.
