From the Department of Lame Excuses

Though Barack and Michelle aren’t bothering to attend Justice Scalia’s funeral today, they did turn up to pay their respects to him as his casket lay in state at the Supreme Court. And, I gotta say, Michelle looked bored stiff.

Ah, the affairs of state are dullsville for Lady M.

Give her an appearance on Ellen any day over this kind of stuff.

Now, the White House is claiming that the reason Barack can’t make it to Scalia’s funeral is he’s spending the day knuckling down and reviewing materials on a potential SCOTUS replacement (hat tip IJ Review).

Yeah. Right. The guy who can’t get into the office until ten in the morning and rarely stays beyond two o’clock suddenly developed a work ethic that includes spending a Saturday hard at it? Give me a break.

Don’t be surprised if the White House official photographer captures an image of Barry, sleeves rolled up, feet on his desk, reviewing possible SCOTUS nominees just to sell the excuse. After all, these are the people who released a picture of Barack shooting skeet. I wouldn’t put it past them.

On a side note, I saw this picture on Twitter yesterday. It was kind of funny in a sad way.
