Independence Day!

A very happy Independence Day, fellow Americans!

I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to watching tonight’s “Salute to America” and fireworks.  And I really hope I get a glimpse of those tanks!

As you may know, PatriotRetort.com held the annual Summer Fundraiser a couple weeks ago.  And this year’s raffle winner will be receiving all five of my e-books.  No T-shirts anymore, I’m afraid.  Dianny Tees closed down in December (damn my Lupus!).

Let me say, I was humbled and awed by the overwhelming support during this year’s summer fundraiser.  You guys are so terrifically generous and thoughtful.  I can’t tell you how much your donations and notes of support mean to me.

Now, I was going to hold the raffle last weekend, but decided to wait and announce the raffle winner on Independence Day instead.

Some of you have been asking if I plan to do a third volume of collected columns to go with Volumes One and Two: “RANT” and “RANT 2.0.” And I’ve been kicking around the idea for a few months now.  At this juncture, I’m still in the “Good grief, there’s too many of them!” phase of the planning.  I need to decide if I want to zero in on just one topic or feature columns on a variety of topics (as I did in the previous two volumes).

But when I do actually start the compilation, I’ll let you know it’s in the works. In fact, knowing me, I’ll not shut up about it being in the works.

In honor of Independence Day, and Betsy Ross, as you can see, I have changed the flag in PatriotRetort.com’s header.  I’m of a mind to keep it this way permanently. I kinda like it!

Despite the Left’s demonizing of President Trump’s response to the riot in Charlottesville two years ago, the fact is, President Trump called it.

He knew that this attempt to erase our history would not stop with Confederate soldiers.  And he warned of that after the events in Charlottesville.  He warned that Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln – all of our history is at risk of being deemed “racist.”

And here we are.

Charlottesville itself will no longer celebrate Thomas Jefferson’s birthday.

The Betsy Ross flag – the first flag of our nation – has been deemed racist not just by the idiots at Nike, but by Presidential candidates.

I’m sure that will win over the Rust Belt States (Beto and Julian, you prats).

Naturally, the Governor of the People’s Republic of California also praised Nike for its hatred of America’s founding.

The Left never stops.

They always, always push too hard and too far.

The Left’s goal has always been to erase America’s history, traditions and culture in the same way they want to erase our borders.

As I said the other day, they are no longer satisfied with Fundamental Transformation. Now they want Fundamental Obliteration.

They even want to get rid of Independence Day itself.

Just take a look at the Google Doodle for today, July 4, 2019.

Golly, so nice of Google to toss Americans a bone in the fine print while they feature baseball on Independence Day.

If you have the chance, please read Raheem Kassam’s excellent column at Human Events, “Killing The Fourth of July.”

Let’s just say, this Brit gets it.

The left is fighting July 4th because it is one of the last vestiges – alongside the flag, the anthem, and the Constitution – that represents America’s roots and therefore its history.

When you despise America, it is inevitable that you would seek to erase its history.  Why do you think History is the least-taught subject in public schools? A nation unmoored from its history will crumble.

It is also inevitable that you would seek to undermine any holiday that celebrates this country you seek to destroy.

But the Left always pushes too hard and too far.

And their attempts to crap all over Independence Day, the flag, and our nation’s sovereignty are a bridge too far for most Americans.

So screw’em.

Let the Left kvetch and whine.

Let them clutch their pearls and scream helplessly at the sky.

It’s Independence Day.

We are proud of our nation — of our history and founding.

We are proud to stand for our flag and honor those brave men and women who serve this nation in our military.

And we are proud to call ourselves Americans.
