It’s April 22nd for crying out loud!

It’s April 22nd for crying out loud!

I realize that lots of stores are currently closed, but whoever ordered snow for my birthday, where do I return this gift?  It’s April 22nd for crying out loud!

And we’re not supposed to get snow on April 22nd.  This isn’t the Arctic Circle, you know.

Now, I’m used to inclement weather on my birthday mostly because Aprils in Central New York tend to be wet and miserable.

But snow?  On April 22nd?!  Come on.

This is some kind of a cosmic joke.  It has to be. God’s little gag gift for the birthday girl.

I don’t ask for much on my birthday.  So is it too much to ask that we not get a blanket of snow on April 22nd?

Ugh.

My Mom got a bright, cheerful sunny afternoon on her birthday yesterday.

And I get snow.

I feel like Charlie Brown on Halloween.

Well, I can tell you one thing, I am most certainly not shoveling snow on my freaking birthday.  Why should I? I wasn’t born in January.  I was born on April 22nd!

CNY weather is always bizarre.  We’re a region that makes liberal use of the joke, “Don’t like the weather? Wait ten minutes.”  We’ve gotten snowfall on Mother’s Day before.  Central New York has the most schizophrenic weather on the planet.

Though, I really should look on the bright side.  Overall, this 2019/2020 snow shoveling season was pretty mild.  I only had to dig myself out four times all season.  And considering snow shoveling season begins in November and last through to, well, April 22nd (?), that’s not bad.

The bad news, of course, is this latest one arrived on my birthday.

The good news is, this unwelcome winter visit will be melted away by April 23rd.

Happy Birthday! I remember the weather in CNY quite well, being stationed in Rome for 3.5 years back in the early 80’s.

I lived in Syracuse and once there was snow on Memorial Day. I did not stick but it did snow for almost an hour – heavy wet flakes.

I hope your birthday was great. (Aside from the snow.) I told my co-workers that it was the snow that kids were asking for back around Christmas. It was back-ordered and arrived 4 months late.
