John McCain: The Next Generation

Next Generation

Well, now John McCain can go to his grave content. A new pseudo-principled, NeverTrump squish hopes to take his place in the Senate.

Mitt Romney – the man nobody is clamoring for – is back.

This morning, in a video on Twitter, John McCain: The Next Generation announced his candidacy for the US Senate from Utah.

“Utah has a lot to teach the politicians in Washington,” Romney says in his glossy campaign ad.

Well, that might be true, Mitt.

But wouldn’t it be better to have someone who actually lives in Utah deliver that message?

Unlike John McCain: The Original Series, John McCain: The Next Generation doesn’t live in the state he hopes to represent.

“Utah has balanced its budgets. Washington is buried in debt.”

What does that have to do with Mitt Romney?

He didn’t balance the budget in Utah. How could he? Not only is he not part of state government, he doesn’t freaking live there.

“Utah welcomes legal immigrants from around the world. Washington sends immigrants a message of exclusion.”

Well, this is nonsense, Mitt.

President Trump’s immigration policies have to do with stopping foreign nationals in the country illegally.

He is not in any way attempting to exclude those legal immigrants already in the United States.

But I understand why you have to conflate legal immigrants with foreign nationals in the country illegally.

After all, you are John McCain: The Next Generation.

But Romney wants us to believe that he is running to “bring Utah’s values to Washington.”

Whereas, the opposite is probably true — as Nick Short put it on Twitter:

Personally, I think it would be more accurate to say Mitt Romney is bringing Northeast Liberal Republican values to Utah.

And is that something they really need?

Romney would be more at home running for the Senate in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Vermont.

But, like that infamous carpetbagger Hillary Clinton who ran in a state she never lived in, Romney chose Utah because he sees it as an easy win.

Let’s be honest, Mitt Romney isn’t running for the Senate to serve the people of Utah.

He’s running for the Senate to replace John McCain as the Senate’s Official NeverTrump Republican.

It’s petty, self-serving and cynical.

You know, just like John McCain.

And just like Mitt Romney.

from my limited research, the head of the Repub Committee there doesn’t want him either

I saw that. I also saw he’s back-peddling furiously like a cartoon character.

Not as far left as GWB; but far to progressive for me. I never voted FOR any liberal GOP Presidents. I did vote AGAINST JFK in ’04 (as did millions of COMBAT vets and their friends and relatives!)! Voting against JFK was NOT a vote for GWB!

The disingenuous father of RomneyCare (aka ObamaCare) is “extremely conservative”; As was Jimmy and FDR.

I feel he’d win because he is a Mormon. That’s all he needs to win in Utah. But I hope the state of Utah remembers his comments and pulls an Even McMillan style loss in November.
I hope an actual conservative runs against him.
