Kaitlan Collins is not a victim

Kaitlan Collins

After an unbelievably rude and disruptive Kaitlan Collins refused to leave the Oval Office while shouting question after question at President Trump, the White House Communications folks told her she would not be permitted at the Rose Garden presser.

And apparently that’s JUST LIKE A DICTATORSHIP!!!!

Except, it’s nothing like a dictatorship.

Instead, it’s just CNN making it all about CNN.

Kaitlan Collins isn’t a victim of oppression or a Free Press martyr.

Instead, she’s a rude, disrespectful little punk who paid the price for that lack of respect.

The problem with CNN trying to gain sympathy over Collins’ deeply disrespectful behavior is, well, CNN isn’t exactly sympathetic.

Let me tell you a story.

In the late 1990s, when I was living in Pittsburgh, I loved going to Three Rivers to watch the Pirates play. And one time when they were playing the Atlanta Braves, this drunk guy sitting in the tier above us started yelling “Chipper Jones is a cock-sucking faggot!!!!”

He wouldn’t shut up.

People were yelling for him to cut it out. Someone pointed out, “There are kids here!”

But he wouldn’t stop yelling really vulgar, homophobic comments at Chipper Jones.

Finally, security showed up and hauled him away.

The response from the fans around him?

Cheers.

When you’re incredibly rude and not particularly sympathetic, nobody gives a damn if you pay the price for being the rude punk that you are.

In fact, most people will cheer.

As Joseph Curl puts it over at The Daily Wire:

Having covered the White House for 12 years, I know a bit about this. To be sure, reporters do yell questions at the president all the time, say, on the White House lawn, at Andrews Air Force base, in a White House press conference or just about anywhere other than the Oval Office. And it’s not only right for them to do so, it’s their job, one the American people expect them to do.

In the Oval, though, reporters are expected to handle themselves with a bit of decorum. It’s the man’s office, after all, and the press was invited in. Yelling repeated questions at the president and refusing to leave is absolutely inappropriate.

But what should we expect?

“Absolutely inappropriate” is CNN’s business model.

They’re the ResistanceLOL network, after all.

And yet the news media portrays this as “unprecedented.”

Really?

Not so much.

@almostjingo on Twitter took the time to chronicle all the times the Obama White House did the same thing and more to reporters who didn’t prostrate themselves before The One.

You can read the entire thread HERE.

But here’s just a taste:

And this:

But wait!

There’s more!

Let’s put poor victim Kaitlan Collins into perspective, shall we?

During the Obama Administration, investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson was illegally spied on — something she once again discussed in a Congressional hearing yesterday.

Here are a few clips of that testimony.

Now, I realize that CNN is incapable of putting things into perspective.

And I also acknowledge that CNN has to make everything about itself.

But telling Kaitlan Collins that she can’t attend a Rose Garden presser because of her abominable behavior in the Oval Office is not a threat to Freedom of the Press. CNN was at that Rose Garden presser — as were journalists from other outlets.

Kaitlan Collins isn’t a victim of tyranny.

She’s a victim of her own boorish behavior.

So simmer down, CNN.

I know you like to make the news all about you.

But a snotty twenty-something getting a wrap on the wrist for being a rude, disruptive punk isn’t the end of Journalistic Freedom as we know it.

And while your media compatriots inside the Bubble might be “well-I-nevering” right along with you, out here in the Real World, normal people are cheering.

Just like folks cheered that boorish lout getting the boot at a baseball game.

Jim Acosta should be thrown out of the White House briefing room for his obnoxious behavior. I think the White House has every right to tell a news agency that they expect a certain level of decorum, and if the reporter from an agency can’t behave themselves, the agency will have to send someone else or forfeit their right to be in the room.

I think all pressers ought to be stopped, and primetime addresses used instead

Frankly C, I think pressers should be an invitation only event. That’s how I would do it. Piss off Rev.Hoagie and you’ll be getting your info from your car radio in the press parking lot.

Trouble is though is only friendly press will ever be allowed to attend so the propaganda would be worse than it already is.

Sharyl Attikisson is one of a handful of true reporters left in this country. The fact that Obama administration did this to her and a few others tells me they were getting too close. I wonder how many were spied upon that never figured it out?
