I keep telling you these guys always push too hard and too far.
And for some reason the Left seems to go out of its way to prove me right.
Yesterday, CNN had the audacity to publish an “opinion” piece by an ethics professor from Notre Dame that compares “journalists” to soldiers.
Yeah, that’s going to go over well.
The self-important drivel is frankly a little hard to stomach.
Journalists are uniquely qualified to perform that vital role of discovering truth and combating falsehood. They have the unique skills, training and resources required; the courage and commitment needed; and an obligation under a demanding code of journalistic ethics to be responsible for the accuracy and fairness of their statements in a way that other sources of news and opinions not bound by the code — including a President who impressively averages 7.6 mistruths a day — are not.
“Unique skills, training and resources.”
Somebody better tell this dummy that April Ryan’s “unique skills” and “training” consist of being a former jazz DJ.
“Courage and commitment” and a “demanding code of journalistic ethics.”
Yes, it really is courageous sitting in a like-minded on-air panel calling Trump voters Nazis and racists.
It must be “journalistic ethics” that inspired Politico reporter Marc Caputo to call us gap-toothed garbage people.
“Accuracy and fairness?”
Like cutting video to make it look like Trump emptying a box of fish food was some kind of never-before-seen boorishness the likes of which the world has ever known?
Was it that “demanding code of journalistic ethics” that inspired Chris Cillizza to put a rifle scope on a gif of President Trump?
Sleeping with a Senate staffer to get classified information — talk about a demanding code of journalistic ethics.
How many retractions and corrections have the news media had to make over the last two years?
Did Brian Ross lose his job because of his “demanding code of journalistic ethics?”
Just over the last few days these courageous and committed, uniquely qualified discoverers of the truth claimed that Donald Trump is telling a whole different story about that nothing burger “Trump Tower meeting.”
Not one thing about Trump’s tweet about that meeting is different from what he said last year.
Yet so committed are they to combatting falsehood, these guys are committing, well, falsehood.
But the most galling part of this idiotic “opinion” piece from an ethics professor is this:
We thank soldiers for their service because they devote themselves to protecting our freedoms, and we should. But we should also thank the media for the same reason — especially when the stakes have never been higher.
Okay, so last year there were people in the news media comparing Antifa to those brave American soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy.
And now, in defense of these “uniquely qualified” peddlers of fake news, this “ethics” professor is comparing them to soldiers.

Fuck you @busethicsdude. Being a journalist and having your precious little ego hurt is nothing like dodging bombs and bullets as a soldier, you smug prick. Self-righteous jerkoffs like you are EXACTLY why people hate the media. https://t.co/8fCAIXJqQ8 pic.twitter.com/vRSDHBI1ci

This is the height of hubris.
The on-air personalities of CNN aren’t brave, selfless defenders of freedom.
They are shills committed to undermining and delegitimizing the duly elected President of the United States. Committed to nullifying the voters who elected him.
And they will do and say anything to make it happen.
Protectors of freedom?
Give me a freaking break.
And the fact that someone would unironically try to portray them of being like the brave men and women who protect this nation would be laughable if it wasn’t so incredibly insulting.
