Oh my, Mr. Sulu!

Looks like Mr. Sulu has been dipping his sword where it wasn’t welcome.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a former model has accused the former Star Fleet officer of sexual assault.

The accuser, a Scott Brunton, claims this assault happened thirty-six years ago when he was twenty-three.

According to Brunton, he went to Sulu’s condo for drinks and woke up on a bean bag chair with his pants pulled down and Ensign Sulu fumbling for Brunton’s phaser.

Naturally, Mr. Sulu denies the accusation.

The events he describes back in the 1980s simply did not occur, and I do not know why he has claimed them now. I have wracked my brain to ask if I remember Mr. Brunton, and I cannot say I do. /2

Right now it is a he said / he said situation, over alleged events nearly 40 years ago. But those that know me understand that non-consensual acts are so antithetical to my values and my practices, the very idea that someone would accuse me of this is quite personally painful. /4

You know, Donald Trump denied that he ever acted on the locker room talk from the Access Hollywood tape.

And yet that didn’t stop Mr. Sulu from labeling him a sexual predator.

When Trump says it's just "locker room talk," he's defending the very culture that normalizes sexual assaults on women.

So if we go by the Sulu Standard, we should just proceed under the assumption that’s he a dirty old man who drugs men and tries to sexually assault them.

After all, unlike President Trump, we have photographic evidence of Mr. Sulu being a pervert.

Then again, maybe that’s just “locker room” behavior, and Takei would never force himself on an unwilling victim.

It’s possible these accusations are baloney.

At this point, it’s Brunton’s word against Mr. Sulu’s.

And my guess is, the truth lies somewhere between the two – in what I’ll call a Neutral Zone.

But it sucks to be accused of assault and find yourself labeled a predator, doesn’t it Mr. Sulu?

Not that I expect this experience will get you to temper your accusations against our President.

Because at the end of the day – rapist or not — you’re still a Leftist.

And among Leftists, a lack of self-awareness and empathy – not to mention a penchant for projection — are all too common.
