CNN held a Democrat Town Hall last night. At least, that’s what I hear. You couldn’t pay me to watch it. But I did keep tabs via Twitter on what passes for brilliant from Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
A few items leaped out at me.
First. A woman who has seen her health insurance premiums more than double with Obamacare asked Hillary if the Democrats were even aware of how damaging Obamacare has been for working class Americans.
Scott Johnson over at Powerline provided Hillary’s near incomprehensible, meandering answer:
“OK, well, first of all let me say, I very much want to get the cost down and that is going to be my mission because I do think that for many, many people, but there are exceptions, like what you’re telling me, having the Affordable Care Act has reduced cost, has created a real guarantee of insurance, because if you’d had a pre-existing condition under the old system you wouldn’t have gotten affordable insurance, so it’s done a lot of really good things, but it has become increasingly clear that we’re going to have to get the cost down,” she said.
Well, thanks. Would that be by reducing mandated benefits or by imposing price controls?
Having bought time to consider her answer further, this is the best Clinton can do: “And one thing that I would like you to do, and I’m not saying it’s going to make a difference, but I would like you to just go shopping on th[e Obamacare] exchange.”
[Anybody else suddenly think of Obama telling that woman that maybe her mother should just take the pain pill?]
She is one cold fish, isn’t she?
So, in other words. “Too bad your premiums increased. Why not go shopping on the Obamacare site for a cheaper plan?”
You think she hasn’t done that? You think she hasn’t tried to find a way to bring her costs down?
Honestly, Hillary. You are a heartless woman.
Hillary also made a comment about guns that she thought was so significant, she tweeted it out.
It's absolutely unacceptable that the gun industry can't be held accountable when they endanger Americans. #DemTownHall

That one made my jaw drop open. This is Hillary Clinton here. This woman does not want to be held accountable for anything she has ever done in her life — even when she endangers Americans.
I was so stunned by that tweet, I retweeted it with this comment:

Yeah. Hillary is so damn caring. That’s why she can’t stop calling Sean Smith’s mother a liar.
And then there was this gem.
For example. I’m the only candidate which has a policy …
WHICH has?! I’m the only candidate WHICH has?! Dear God.
…about how to bring economic opportunity using clean, renewable energy as the key into coal country. Because we’re gonna put a lotta coal miners and coal companies out of business.
Yeah. She’s actually proud of that.
Right Tim? And we’re gonna make it clear that we don’t want to forget those people. Those people labored in those mines for generations — losing their health, often losing their lives — to turn on our lights and power our factories. Now we gotta move away from coal and all the other fossil fuels. But I don’t wanna move away from the people who did the best they could to produce the energy that we relied on.
Golly. I bet all those coal miners are thrilled to hear that Hillary cares about them. She cares so much about energy in the US that she wants to cripple us by making fossil fuels a thing of the past in order to pretend that wind and solar and other “clean, renewable energy” will be viable enough to keep our lights on and our factories running.
This woman lives in a freaking dreamland. She might as well say that she will see to it that all those coal miners whose jobs she destroys are first in line to work in the new Unicorn Fart processing plant. Or maybe they can be the new dilithium crystal miners of the future.
Notice how she just dismisses coal and fossil fuels as being something we relied (past tense) relied on. No, you dumb bint. It is what currently fuels our country and our economy. It also happens to be responsible for quite a number of jobs that have been created over the last few years (see also North Dakota).
Ah, well. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet and you have to kill off thousands of jobs to reach a sustainable, renewable Utopia that is probably years and years away from being reality (if it is doable at all). But hey, those coal miners who lost their jobs can just go on Food Stamps, Medicaid and Welfare until we actually land on an energy source that can do what coal and oil have accomplished for us.
What a cold, wretched bitch this woman is.
