I guess lecturing Christians got old for the insufferably pompous Pete Buttigieg. So now the sanctimonious prat from South Bend has decided to lecture Republicans about what kind of Republican they should be.
Because heaven knows we Republicans always look to a Leftist Democrat to give us guidance on these kinds of things.
Using the Atlantic’s anonymously-sourced “Trump hates the troops” gossip story as his pretense, Pompous Pete set up a fictional scenario involving future grandchildren doing his scolding for him. And he’s so proud of his lecture, he’s pinned the video to his Twitter timeline.
Said our moral better: “If you’re used to voting Republican, years from now your grandkids will ask what you did in this moment and you will have to tell them if you were a ‘John McCain Republican’ or ‘Donald Trump Republican.’ You can’t be both. The choice is yours.”
He’s right about one thing; you can’t be both.
What he gets completely and incredibly wrong, of course, is believing Team John McCain is the better choice.
Then again, for Democrats, being a John McCain Republican is a better choice … for them.
And that’s kinda the point.
I expect this kind of insufferable twaddle from Pompous Pete Buttigieg. But the truth is, Democrats are always telling us Republicans what kind of Republican we are supposed to be.
As is always the case, consider the source.
Democrats want to utterly defeat us, “fundamentally transform” the country and silence opposition.
With that in mind, permit me to give you the subtext of what Pompous Pete expects:
“Be the kind of Republican that surrenders to us while sniffing our farts, instead of the kind of Republican that laughs in our faces and tells us to get bent.”
To Democrats like Pompous Pete, John McCain is the ideal Republican because McCain was focused on getting in the good graces of the Democrats and their media handmaids while tossing vicious insults at Republicans.
In fact, that’s one of the main reasons Republicans disliked John McCain so much.
Sure, he talked big. But when push came to shove, old Johnny boy would stab us in the back just to get the praise of his Democrat colleagues – not to mention oodles of love from the garbage media.
The real challenge for Republicans in 2020 is: “Are you a vicious, sarcastic backstabber who grovels for the approval of Democrats and the Media? Or are you a Fighter who holds his ground even when facing a barrage of hate from Democrats and the Media?”
Any Republican that gets the radical Democrats’ imprimatur is the kind of Republican no Republican wants to be.*
*with the noted exceptions of Jeff Flake, John Kasich and Mitt Romney.
Aside from those three, is there any Republican lying awake at night fretting that future grandchildren might call him out for not being more like John McCain?
Is there any Republican who actually thinks to himself, “Gosh, that little Leftist prat Pete Buttigieg wants me to be more like McCain; I guess I should then!”
Has Pompous Pete actually ever met a Republican voter?
You know, the McCain/Trump feud actually began with McCain. Most people forget that because the media ignores it.
Every time someone brings up Trump attacking John McCain for getting captured in Vietnam they conveniently leave out what prompted Trump’s criticism in the first place.
See, John McCain, as was his routine, mocked and attacked Arizonans who turned up for Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Phoenix back in July of 2015. In response to Trump’s enthusiastic reception from the crowd of over fifteen thousand, McCain told Leftist hack Ryan Lizza that Trump “fired up the crazies.”
A moderator asked Trump to respond to McCain attacking his fellow Arizonans, and, during his response, Trump, as is his pattern, punched the asshole McCain right in the mouth.
This is how it always goes: Someone angry with Trump turns his bile on Trump’s supporters, and in response, Trump opens fire on him.
This is what Republicans like about Trump. He defends us. He fights back against this penchant of his haters to malign and smear, not just him, but also us.
And while nobody in the press gave a damn that McCain reserved his viciousness for average Arizonans, they set their hair on fire over Trump punching back.
It’s a pattern we’ve seen play out time after time since 2015.
Whether it’s Hillary calling us “deplorable” and “irredeemable,” or John McCain calling us “crazies,” these creeps never limit their vitriol to Donald Trump. They always, always open fire on regular Americans like you and me. And when Trump hits back, he limits his attack to the vicious asshole attacking us.
He called Hillary “such a nasty woman;” he didn’t say “half of Hillary’s supporters are nasty.”
Back in 2015 when Trump hit back at McCain, I wrote:
“Unfortunately for McCain – who is used to dealing with milquetoast Republicans who buckle when he blusters – Trump punched back twice as hard.”
Likewise, Democrats like Pompous Pete are not only used to milquetoast Republicans who buckle, their entire strategy for power depends on the existence of milquetoast Republicans.
That’s why they want us emulating a vicious, backstabbing prick like McCain. Because they want us emulating Republicans who help the Democrats win.
So the question I have is, do you want your grandchildren to ask you if you were the kind of Republican who surrenders to the Left, or were you a Trump Republican?
I know which one I’m choosing. Frankly, it’s a no-brainer. And I certainly don’t need a helpful assist from a far-Left politician like Pompous Pete Buttigieg to come to the right decision.
