Revenge of the Staffers

Say, remember Katie Hill? She’s the former Democrat Congresswoman who carried on affairs with her staffers and was forced to resign from Congress a year ago.

Despite being forced out in disgrace rather than facing an Ethics Investigation, Katie became a bit of a folk hero among the Resistance^LOL. She was a frequent guest on cable news. And in early 2020, she announced that she would be writing a memoir (which was released this summer).

It’s good to be a Democrat.

You can abuse your staffers, have your sordid sex life splashed across the internet, then forced to retire by the Speaker of the House, and still a publisher will hand you merry buckets of cash to write a book.

Even better, some idiot in Hollywood will decide to produce a movie version of your seedy life starring Elisabeth Moss (lately of “The Handmaid’s Tale” – stop and marvel at that irony).

Yes, that’s ironic as well, isn’t it?

The whole thing is laughably absurd.

And apparently all this great news did not go over well with Katie’s former staffers.

In the wee hours of Wednesday morning, Katie’s former Official House Twitter Account, inactive since she was drummed out, sprang to life. And let’s just say the thread produced was not especially glowing.

I made screen captures of the tweeted thread, which I will call the Revenge of the Staffers.

The reason I made screen captures is because I’m sure Twitter will rush to the rescue and suspend the account and delete this thread to protect Hollywood’s latest heroine — especially since Katie reported it an hour later:

Thanks to all who let me know my government official twitter account was hacked. Control of my account was immediately handed back to the House Clerk when I resigned, including password changes and access restrictions. God knows who hacked it from there. Reported to @twitter.

“Hacked.”

Sounds less like it was “hacked” and more like your staffers decided that making a movie glorifying this awful woman was a bridge too far so they signed on and let their feelings known.

“God knows?”

Well, God isn’t the only one who knows Katie — since the very first tweet says who commandeered the account – namely your former staffers.

But of course Katie’s first instinct is to portray herself as a victim.

She’s been doing that since the sordid story first broke.

In her “I am a Victim” final speech on the floor of the House, Katie blamed misogyny and a so-called “double-standard” while claiming (incorrectly) that she was forced out because of “revenge porn.” I said at the time, Katie has more excuses than Hillary.

What she refused to address – not once – is the fact that she abused her position to take advantage of her own staffers. She never once acknowledged that her own Speaker ordered her to resign rather than face the ethics investigation – no doubt because Katie’s abuse of power would become impossible to ignore.

And now Hollywood wants to turn her into a cinematic hero?

I’m thinking the movie version of Katie’s depraved tale will bear little if any resemblance to the truth. Like Katie’s alternative reality, it too will probably portray her as the poor, mistreated victim of misogyny, revenge porn and that accursed “double-standard” rather than the damaged predator and harasser that she actually is.

Can you blame her staffers for speaking out?
