Run-Away Gillibrand cancels debate

Run-away Gillibrand cancels debate

What the heck is it with New York State Democrats and their unwillingness to debate?

I told you about the Cowardly Governor.

Now we have the scaredy cat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

Gillibrand was set to face off against her Republican opponent Chele Farley today in a debate hosted by Spectrum News. But the chicken quitter announced on Friday that she was pulling out.

You see, the Local 3 of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers are striking against Spectrum’s parent company Charter Communications.

And Gillibrand has decided that debating at Spectrum is crossing the picket line.

From the New York Post:

“I believe deeply that an open public debate is essential to democracy. That is why months ago I agreed to a statewide debate with Spectrum News/NY1 before the upcoming election,” Gillibrand said.

Yes, she deeply believes an open public debate is “essential to democracy.” Deeply.

Who believes this malarkey?

“However, I am also deeply committed to the working men and women of the labor community and support the 1,800 members of IBEW who went on strike for fair pay and benefits and I will not cross a de facto picket line scheduled for Sunday. That is why I will withdraw from participating in the Spectrum News/NY1 debate this Sunday unless the workers’ strike of Charter has been resolved.”

By “deeply committed” she means “when it helps me politically.”

Kirsten has always been good at exploiting “causes” for her own political cover.

So, if I understand this correctly, in a state with over nineteen million people, Gillibrand is “deeply committed” to 1,800 of them.

The rest of us New Yorkers can apparently go straight to hell.

If I had to venture a guess, I’d say Kirsten Gillibrand’s team knows that actually facing off with her opponent is a lose/lose for her.

In addition to being a staggeringly stupid woman with the voice of a whining twelve-year-old girl, she really has no discernable “accomplishments” on which to run.

Why call attention to that on live television? And why give your Republican opponent an opportunity to expose you as a do-nothing fraud?

Plus, when you’re running for a reelection in a state where Democrats far outnumber Republicans, it’s best to just keep under the radar and let the percentages do the work for you.

Besides, Kirsten is too busy visiting New Hampshire to be bothered.

Why New Hampshire?

Well, given how dumb Kirsten is, it’s possible she didn’t realize she wasn’t in New York. After all, they both start with “New.”

A debate with Farley would only benefit Farley.

And I have no doubt Gillibrand and her campaign people know that.

The truth is, I bet half of New York voters don’t even know the name of Gillibrand’s opponent. Chele Farley isn’t getting the kind of attention Josh Hawley is in Missouri or John James is in Michigan.

Though to be honest, I don’t even know if New York voters realize that Gillibrand is up for reelection. It isn’t like she’s trailblazing across the state stumping for votes. Instead, she’s visiting other states and campaigning for their Democrat candidates.

Kirsten truly doesn’t believe she needs to bother with us.

And that’s precisely why she won’t debate.

Why take the risk of harming her shoe-in reelection by giving voters a chance to actually hear from her?

The striking union members are nothing but an excuse.

And anyone with half a brain isn’t fooled by her so-called Solidarity with the strikers.

She has no more solidarity with them than she does anyone else in the state of New York.

Cuomo and Gillibrand think they shouldn’t have to debate anyone. It’s beneath them. You’re supposed to bow down to them.
