Sh*tholeGate: Who cares?!

who cares

There’s a big climactic scene from the first season of “Mad Men” where Pete Campbell is going to let the cat out of the bag about Don Draper’s Big Secret.

Campbell follows Draper into Bert Cooper’s office to drop the bomb.

And he drops it. He tells Mr. Cooper that Don Draper isn’t really Don Draper at all, but Dick Whitman. He stole the man’s identity and is a deserter from the Army!!!

Meanwhile, Don is standing next to him nervously waiting for his life to blow apart.

And Cooper gets up, comes around his desk, looks Campbell in the eye and says:

Mr. Campbell, who cares?

Who cares?

Mr. Cooper, he’s a fraud, a liar. A criminal, even.

Even if this were true, who cares? This country was built
and run by men with worse stories than whatever you’ve
imagined here.

CNN, much like Pete Campbell, thinks they’ve dropped a bomb on us by endlessly flogging the anonymous “sources familiar with the meeting” story of President Trump calling some countries “shithole countries.”

But who cares?

Even if these “sources familiar with the meeting” (AKA people who weren’t actually in the meeting) are being entirely accurate, who cares?

The President is trying to cobble together an immigration bill that will begin the shift to a merit-based system. He wants to stop chain migration and the so-called “diversity” visa lottery.

And these lawmakers come up to the White House and feed him the same tired ideas that got us into this mess to begin with.

Now, if I were President Trump, I would have gotten frustrated and irritated with these people too. And I probably would have snapped at them.

Because that’s what normal people do.

People get frustrated. And when they do, they might shout or curse. It’s human nature.

Just ask Lawrence O’Donnell.

[Stop the f*cking hammering!]

I’m sure Barack Obama found reason to lose his cool and swear when he was President too.

But of course, when that happened, there weren’t “unnamed sources” who quickly leaked it to the Washington Post.

Although on occasion, the Obama Administration’s not-so-diplomatic outbursts did come out.

For example, back in 2014 when an Obama official referred to Benjamin Netanyahu as a “chickenshit.”

Or, in 2013 when President Obama referred to Americans who were involved in the Tea Party protests as “teabaggers” – that sexually-explicit smear made popular by Anderson Cooper.

Yes, the same Anderson Cooper who was getting the vapors over President Trump saying some countries are shitholes.

And then there’s the time Barack Obama accused the Brits of turning Libya into a “shit show.”

That one is really galling. After all, Libya became a shit show thanks to Barack Obama, not David Cameron.

But as is typical for Barack – he took credit for good things he had nothing to do with and blamed others for things that were his fault. Actually, he’s still doing that, isn’t he?

You’ll note an interesting pattern emerging from those examples, however.

The Obama Administration tended to save their foulest criticisms for Americans or America’s closest allies.

So again I say who cares if President Trump referred to some shithole countries as being shithole countries?

Who cares?

What exactly is factually wrong about that?

Does anyone really believe that Haiti or Somalia or El Salvador or Mexico are little utopias on Earth?

Mexico is the second deadliest nation on the planet. Drug Cartels actually control whole provinces of the place for crying out loud.

I’d call that a shithole.

But, really?

Who cares?!

Unlike the perpetually offended on the Left, I can see through the ruse.

Nobody in the news media is really angry or upset over this. It’s an act. It’s always an act.

Every meltdown, every breathless clutch of the pearls – it’s all an act.

There is only one reason the news media and the Democrats are making hay over this “shithole countries” remark.

They’re losing control of the narrative.

Americans — by a majority — support a merit-based immigration system.

And I think the internal polling from both the media and the Democrats show that to be true.

Plus I’m sure that televised immigration meeting didn’t help things either.

After all, they’re kind of banking on people believing President Trump is an unhinged, drooling nitwit. And that meeting destroyed that narrative too.

Add to that the fact that next week is the State of the Union address, and you can see why the Democrats and the press need something – anything – to reframe the narrative quickly.

The last thing the news media and the Democrats want is for us to go into that speech thinking well of Donald Trump.

Democrats are losing the narrative and they know it. They know they’re on the wrong side of this immigration debate in the exact same way they know they’re on the wrong side of the tax cuts.

And if they lose the immigration battle, they will never regain the majority in Washington again.

So they’re panicking.

And what do the news media and the Democrat Party do when they panic?

They play the race card.

And let’s be honest, “Trump called some countries ‘shitholes!’ He’s a racist!” is the best they could come up with on such short notice.

Sure, it’s thin soup.

But they’re desperate.

I’ve said before, once you know how the sausage is made, this kind of stuff stops working on you.

So let them howl. Let them clutch their pearls and feign outrage.

At the end of the day, who the hell cares?

I sincerely doubt he said it and until this so called unnamed source steps forward I won’t believe it.

Regardless if he did say it he wouldn’t be wrong. Those countries are sh*tholes.

FOX is reporting that 2 more people present during the meeting said that the President did not use those words. Durbin heard shithole because he wanted to and thought he could gain political traction if he jumped in front of the camera with it. It would be ridiculous for the President to deny saying those exact words with so many in the room. Either way, it was a true statement for anyone who may have spoken it.

Right on again, Dianny!! Who the hell cares that our President called it like it is again!! If these places, countries weren’t actual shitholes, why are their people trying to break into ours on a daily basis?? The left is always a damn good source for amusement every day of the week! Still LMAO!!

The left thought leaking the comment attributed to Trump a.k.a. “Shitholes” would inflame and incense the masses. Instead, it resonates with a majority of Americans who are sick to death of the idea of illiterate and impoverished immigrants showing up to our nation’s door and being given shelter, food, money and free educations. Better treatment than the typical American gets from their government.

The bond between Trump and the typical American ‘every-man’ is getting stronger and stronger and try as they might, the left has not been able to weaken that bond at all. If anything, every action the left takes to destroy Trump ends up making him stronger and stronger politically.

The MSM and the left in lockstep are not used to failing so miserably. They have not known losing since Ronald Reagan. He basically did the same thing to them as Trump is doing now. If you wonder about how far the Left and MSM will go, I would guess that absurdity is not out of the question.

Once they hit rock bottom the real question is what will they do after that??????

To use a Cole Porter title: ‘ Anything goes’

o.k. I agree that trump “crossed the line” and worded his question poorly, maybe even offensively and should apologize for that.
now answer the question… why are we importing illiterate, unskilled people who can add little if anything to our society, and little if anything to our economy??
I’m a racist?? o.k., now answer the question
i’m a xenophobe?? o.k., now answer the question

bet I get called every name in the book, and they NEVER answer the question

    • January 12, 2018 at 10:57 am

You probably won’t be called every name in the book here.

When Ike was President we’d a said, “He just called a spade a spade!”; but since 1961 “spade” has racist connotations.

I guess “Sh** hole” connotes the same now.

Let me say in clear AngloSaxon FUCK YOU! No nuance here – plain , honest English!

“And if they lose the immigration battle, they will never regain the majority in Washington again”

Oh, that would be SOOOOO nice!! 🙂

In my lifetime, I’ve been blessed to witness Harry S. Truman, Howard W. Cosell, and now Donald J. Trump. (Okay, Cosell wasn’t a president, but he did command a wide audience.) Harry was famous for
“plain speaking,” which according to his book by the same name, meant “swearing in the right places.” “Give ’em hell, Harry!” was a much admired statement for a President who once said of a Washington Post reporter, “Someday I hope to meet you. When that happens, you’ll need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes and perhaps a supporter below.” Howard W. Cosell was famous for “telling it like it is” especially after a few drinks had liberated his tongue. And now we have DJT who promised in the campaign to attack political correctness, “We have to get much smarter. And we have to get much less politically correct. We’re so politically correct that we’re afraid to do anything.” This brouhaha seems to be a great step forward in bringing down the p.c. culture while advancing “plain speaking” and “telling it like it is.” Reminds me of an episode of Yes, Minister (which someone conveniently clipped today):

So when the Liberals shout that America is a shithole, that’s fine?
I also want to ask them, if Haiti is not a shithole, why did they want to move to Canada instead?

Just watching Anderson Pooper choke up and blubber over a WORD was worth the price of admission.
A frigging WORD made him cry!

By the way, if you’re not familiar with him, he’s the on-air CNN anchor who famously said while interviewing a Trump ally…
“I swear! Trump could come in here and take a big dump right here on this desk and you’d still defend him!”

That’s some nice national tv reporting, twerp.

This might even be President Trump playing some more of that multi-dimensional chess that I believe he has in play. He’d trying to reduce immigration from shit-holes. He’s trying to get our Congress to legislate in that direction. The hard language he used in that meeting might cause people from shit-holes to feel offended enough to stay where they are.

  • January 14, 2018 at 5:56 am

They’re losing and they’re grasping at straws.

Even if Trump actually said it, it’s pretty darn lame.

But that’s all they have. So ABCNNBCBS has no choice but to run with it.

    Well, just call me “deplorable.”
