Some Enchanted Evening
This morning, I was reading the UK Daily Mail Online and stumbled across an article about an interview Huma Abedin did on a podcast called “Call Your Girlfriend.”
Never heard of it.
Any old how, Huma describes the first time she met Hillary Clinton and I thought she was describing the plot to “South Pacific.”
‘You know these things that happen in your life that just stick? She walked by and she shook my hand and our eyes connected and I just remember having this moment where I thought; “Wow, this is amazing,”‘ said Abedin.
Um. Okay.
Kinda leaves me with an “Ick Factor.” But that might be the Lupus medication.
Maybe it’s because we did “South Pacific” when I was a sophomore in high school, but I read that article and began singing “Some Enchanted Evening” — the love song Emile De Becque sings to the lovely young nurse Nellie Forbush.
You may see a stranger across a crowded room
And somehow you know, you know even then
That somewhere you’ll see her again and again
Some enchanted evening, someone may be laughing
You may hear her laughing across a crowded room
And night after night, as strange as it seems
The sound of her laughter will sing in your dreams
Who can explain it, who can tell you why
Fools give you reasons, wise men never try
Some enchanted evening, when you find your true love
When you feel her call you across a crowded room
Then fly to her side and make her your own
Or all through your life you may dream all alone
Personally, given that it’s Hillary “Benghazi” Clinton, probably the song “Bloody Mary” is more appropriate.
Hey, do you think I’m happy that “Some Enchanted Evening” is stuck in my head now?
Especially regarding Hillary and Huma?!
Sweet merciful Zeus. What I wouldn’t give to unsee that article at the Daily Mail.
Huma continued:
‘And it just inspired me. You know, I still remember the look on her face. And it’s funny, and she would probably be so annoyed that I say this, but I remember thinking; “Oh my God, she’s so beautiful and she’s so little!”‘
Tell me you read that without getting just a wee bit nauseous.
“She’s so beautiful?”
Oh, Huma. Love is blind.
Huma is especially concerned about the fact that her emails to Hillary are being read by others.
It’s something I can’t really think about, but I can’t even imagine what’s in those emails. I would probably be mortified. I have no idea. I haven’t read any of them.
Right there with you, Huma. Reading this smarmy interview was icky enough for me. I don’t want to know what you emailed to her.
But don’t feel bad, honey. Compared to what your husband did on Twitter, I’m sure your emails to Hillary aren’t nearly as embarrassing.
God, I hope not anyway.
Now would somebody please help me get “Some Enchanted Evening” out of my head!

Get rid of “Some enchanted evening”? I would try a couple choruses of “The Bird is the word”, followed with a little “Harry the Hairy Ape”.
or: “hillary and humamaaa” to the tune of Ebony and Ivory?
