Some social media updates

After the coordinated effort to shut it down, slandered social media site Parler is back.

So once again, you can find me on Parler @DiannyRants.

I was a little sad to discover my previous parleys from last year have disappeared. So I am starting from scratch.

Ah well.

The site is a bit hinky at present. If I go to my page right now, I get a bad gateway message. Or, I connect, but none of the parleys I’ve sent out today appear. No idea why. Just hinky. Hopefully soon they’ll work out the kinks and get it running smoothly.

Speaking of hinky. If you try to use the Parler Share Button below from your computer, for some odd ass reason you get this message:

Um. This is my desktop. I can’t rotate my desktop, ya dopes!

Even when I tried to use the share button from my iPad, the normal parley window didn’t pop up. Instead, it just opened a new window for the Parler main page. So clearly the plug-in designers will have to make some adjustments to the new system. Hopefully soon they’ll fix it and supply an update for the plug-in.

In the meantime, you can copy the link you want to share, open Parler and paste the link into a parley. It takes a few extra steps, but for the time being, it’ll do.

And as you can see below, there is now a Gab share button available.

Meanwhile, Facebook, that annoying big girl’s blouse of social media has begun throttling down political content. The assholes.

PatriotRetort.com has had a Facebook page since its inception.  And up until a month or so ago, people linking through from Facebook accounted for between 20K and 25K hits per week here at PatriotRetort.com. Now I’m lucky to get 10% of that in a week.

Even people who marked the Patriot Retort FB page as one of their “favorites” don’t see the posts on their newsfeed. So clearly Bossy Betty Facebook is keeping my content hidden.

And Twitter? Well, that’s beyond useless as this point. Between losing hundreds of followers and the intermittent shadow bans, I get near zero traffic when I tweet out one of my posts. Now I pretty much only use Twitter to keep up with the news and read the tweets from my favorite tweeters.

Social media is vital to anyone with a website. It is (or used to be) a main avenue for PatriotRetort.com’s traffic. And the assholes at Facebook and Twitter are throwing so many roadblocks on that avenue, it’s starting to pinch.

That’s the main reason the return of Parler and the presence of Gab are so important to me. This is my livelihood. And Twitter and Facebook putting the squeeze on me hurts my bottom line.

As it is, I’m considering adding an additional social media platform to the ones I currently use. Some of you have suggested MeWe or Clouthub. But I haven’t decided as yet.

If I do make the plunge into a new social media platform, I’ll probably shut down the Facebook page entirely in exchange for the new one – mostly because Facebook seems hell-bent on making the decision for me.

And while Parler has returned, something tells me Big Tech and its creepy allies on the Left aren’t done trying to shut it down. As it is, within hours of Parler returning yesterday, the vicious assholes from Sleeping Giants were already on a search and destroy mission.

“Rife with racism and violence.” Good grief, take the skirt off, Louise.

I know some of you don’t do social media for a thousand different reasons. And I honestly can’t blame you.

But for me, social media is a useful tool for expanding the reach and readership here at Patriot Retort. So if you do use social media, please share posts from PatriotRetort.com. Share them like crazy.
