I woke this morning to discover that a gunman had killed multiple people inside a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and I admit, my first thought was Islamic terrorism. Of course, we’re not supposed to think Islamic terrorism. We’re not to speak of it. And surely, we must never jump to conclusions.
Unless of course a white man shoots up a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs. Then, jumping to conclusions is the primary form of transportation.
Though at six this morning the news reports didn’t hint at Islamic terrorism, I just had a sinking feeling. Something about the description of the attack was shockingly similar to the attack on the concert hall in Paris. It was hard not to assume the perpetrator was an Islamic radical.
But we must not speak of it.
When asked about terrorism in the press conference this morning, the FBI Special Agent in Charge did say that the dead gunman may have leanings toward radical Islam. Apparently there are reports that this individual had made previous threats in connection to radical Islamic groups.
Well, actually, he didn’t come out and say radical Islamic terrorism. Because, we dare not speak its name. Instead, he said, “We do have suggestions that …uh… that individual may have leanings towards that … uh … that particular …uh … ideology. But right now we can’t say definitively so we’re still running everything to ground.”
What particular ideology?
Of course, for me, the single biggest clue that this was radical Islamic terrorism is the response from the White House. Here is Josh Earnest’s press statement:
The President was briefed this morning by Lisa Monaco, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, on the tragic shooting in Orlando, Florida. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims. The President asked to receive regular updates as the FBI, and other federal officials, work with the Orlando Police to gather more information, and directed that the federal government provide any assistance necessary to pursue the investigation and support the community.
By comparison, when a gunman opened fire at a community college in Roseburg, Oregon on October 1, 2015, instead of an 80-word statement from Josh Earnest, Barack Obama delivered a 1,306-word statement live and on camera.
Not only that, the White House website chose as their “Photo of the Day” for October 1, 2015, a picture of Obama watching the news reports about the shooting in Oregon.
But today? A bloodless, 80-word statement from Josh Earnest and nothing else.
Nothing makes it clearer to me that this attack in Orlando is a terrorist attack perpetrated by an Islamic radical.
Had the gunman been some wild-eyed white guy in a Trump 2016 T-shirt, Obama would have been all over this like flies on shit. The main picture on the White House website would already be a photograph of Obama biting his lower lip and fighting back tears while talking on the phone with the Mayor of Orlando.
Just as they did in the aftermath of San Bernardino, the Enslaved Press and the White House will place the focus on “mass shootings” and “gun violence” in America, not the danger of radical Islamic terror. One only needs to review Obama’s statement on the heels of the San Bernardino attack (which I parsed HERE) to get a sense of what to expect.
Of course, when it becomes certain and not just probable, that this attack was terrorism, Obama’s White House and their slaves in the press will hammer the claim that the NRA is preventing them from keeping guns out of the hands of terrorists. No word will be said about how Obama’s immigration policies are bringing radicalized Muslims into the country. It’ll all be the fault of the NRA and Republicans who stand in the way of “common sense” gun reforms — as if the only reason these animals want to kill Americans on our soil is because of the NRA.
In the course of writing this post, CBS New York is now reporting that the gunman’s name is Omar Mateen of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Mateen was born to Afghan parents in 1986.
