The Appalling Silence of Mitt Romney
It has been five days since Senator Rand Paul and his wife were harassed and threatened outside of the White House after President Trump’s acceptance speech. And while most of the attention has been on Senator Kamala Harris’ appalling silence in response to her colleague’s attack, some are wondering why Mitt Romney isn’t out there in the spotlight every day denouncing it as “appalling.”
I mean, Lord knows Mitt sees himself as our moral better. You’d think a violent attack on a man with whom he works every day would prompt some kind of self-righteous indignation. After all, Mitt loves to run to the nearest camera to denounce appalling behavior while telling us all how appalled he is.
So his appalling silence is a real head-scratcher.
Or is it?
Fact is, Mitt tends to reserve his sanctimonious pearl-clutching for his fellow Republicans – most notably, President Trump.
He gets appalled so often by this President, I began referring to him as Appalling Mitt Romney.
Since BLM/Antifa are not Republican, nor are they supported or defended by Trump, it stands to reason that all we’d get from Appalling Mitt is appalling silence.
Remember, Mitt was one of the gullible saps who tripped all over himself to join the Black Lives Matter Marxists in DC back in June – for which he received slobbering praise from his fellow appallingly silent Senator, Kamala Harris.
Did you really expect Mitt to utter a single negative word about those same Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters harassing his Senate colleague?
Not on the likely.
Now, I have absolutely no doubt that if the reverse were to happen – namely a MAGA-hat-wearing crowd swarming and harassing say Senator Mazie Hirono — Mitt would be elbowing his Senate colleagues out of the way to be the first one to denounce it on cable news.
There’s a reason I called Mitt “John McCain: The Next Generation” when he first announced his run for the Senate. Romney, like McCain, believes he embodies “the conscience of the Republican Party.” And by that I mean, “Attack Republicans relentlessly in order to get the slobbering praise of Democrats and their media handmaids.”
Denouncing BLM/Antifa thugs who went after his colleague will not get him an ounce of praise.
So instead all we hear from Mitt Romney is appalling silence.
Honestly, I do not understand why Utahans sent this carpet-bagging media whore to Washington. But I sure wish they hadn’t.

Utah only elected him because he’s a Mormon. I wonder why he doesn’t just register as a democrat because he’s fooling nobody with his “conservative” principles.
Mitt Romney is more than appalling. He is childishly revolting and treacherous. His behavior and that of his fellow Utah senator has to be explained in the context of the business interests of the Mormon church. Remember that the Mormon church endorsed Mittens which is why he was elected over more conservative candidates.
I grew up in Salt Lake City as a non-Mormon, which at the time ,in the forties and fifties, could be actually dangerous. I was friends with two of Mitten’s cousins, also named Romney, who curiously were not Mormons. When you said “the church”, it was assumed you meant the Mormon church. They ran everything.
I have no issue with anyone’s religious believes and they are welcome to their faith. But it really has to be said that the business hierarchy of the Mormon church are corrupt to the nines. Remember when they were caught bribing the Olympic committee? They were completely out front about it. They were so used to this sort of corruption they didn’t even think it was wrong. These folks think that they are so good that when they lie it’s the truth. Or here’s something you never hear about:
that 150 mile stretch of the I-15 in Utah that remained uncompleted for 25 years after the rest of the interstate highway system was finished. The cost overruns and delays milked U.S. tax payers for millions, maybe billions. Guess who owned all the construction companies involved.
The simple explanation for Mitten’s behavior and that of Mike Lee is that the (very large) business interests of the Mormon church have gone globalist. Utah is a very business friendly state and that’s good. The tech business in Utah has grown exponentially and is now referred to as the Silicon Slopes. Both Mittens and Mike Lee take their marching orders from the Mormon church. Those business interests would like lots of Indian H1B workers to man the computers in Utah. So you can see why Mike Lee, an otherwise conservative senator, is behind a bill to import lots of Indians at the expense of American workers. Of course, Mittens is in a class by himself. He is actually part of the cabal of Mormon business interests. I have no direct evidence of this, but I have always suspected he was told to stand down when he was running against Obama. That election was Mitten’s to lose.
Who knows what vile and corrupt behaviors we can expect from Mittens next.

To correct the premise: The LDS church does not endorse any political party or candidate, including Romney, a true jerk. Nor do they give any political figure marching orders. Your anti-Mormonism is typical. You may have legitimate gripes, but don’t filter them through the lens of your bigotry.
Pharmaskeptic – you analysis of why Mitt Romney and other wealthy LDS Mormon pols/business leaders do what they do makes sense to a point – but it doesn’t explain why Mitt Romney and other LDS political leaders like Harry Reid, Orin Hatch, Mitt Romney and Jeff Flake publicly endorse THE worst cult marxist programs like the Matthew Shepherd Federal Hate Crime bill that turns all crimes in to political crimes from a perspective that heterosexual White Americans are to blame for everything. I live in Chicago – 700 plus gang center murders, but these aren’t “hate crimes”, because they weren’t motivated by White Racists, unless the White racists created a climate of violence and hate that made the Black gang members kill each other and the rest of us.
It doesn’t explain why Mitt Romney and Jeff Flake ran away from the crazy Feminist demonstrators trying to lynch Supreme Court nominees Cavanaugh.
It doesn’t explain why Mitt Romney and all the LDS pols are all simply insane treason supporting open borders mass immigration that is replacing this historic American nation.
No there are other reasons.
One big reason is that the LDS Mormon Church was once for White European Americans and related people only, but in the 1970s they came out of that – so you get the phenomena a born again sinner who is now (extremely rich) and is virtue signalling that they are better than everyone else, especially Conservatives and they are leading the fight against all (only White) racism. LDS Mormons in Utah were lucky that their state was still very White homogenous, so their idiot Lib Leftist pandering didn’t really impact them yet, but now it is as there are BLM riots in Salt Lake City and street gang terrorists coming in from places like LA and Vegas.
The LDS Mormon (they don’t like the Mormon name anymore) like being successful and not considered different, not good Americans, they like Mitt Romney like being accepted at Harvard and Yale and here at the University of Chicago. There program is to dress neat – suits on Sunday, sweaters the rest of the weak, live a squeaky clean life and agree with whomever is in the room with them at the time, you know, as* kissers, boot lickers, brief case carriers – they agree with the “undocumented”, Black race hustlers, radical Islamists and of course the Zionist Neo Conservatives that are always pushing endless budge breaking wars, regime changes in the ME. Hell, Mitt Romney repeated his insane J advisers Max Boot’s rant that “Russia was our greatest enemy”. What a F#*$&# idiot.
Anyway that’s my take on the seemingly incomprehensible politics of the pols of the Church of Latter Day Saint Mormons or the Church of Latter Day Sissies as I like to call them. Mitt Romney is arguably the worst, but most go this way.

You misread me entirely. I am not an anti-Mormon. In fact, I find the social cohesion created within the Mormon church’s members a very positive thing. The membership is one thing. The blurred line between the church hierarchy and its members’ business dealings are quite another thing. They are so corrupt it takes your breath away.
Unfortunately this makes a business environment utterly pervaded by questionable practices. There is a reason that Salt Lake City has been the stock fraud capital of the United States. It’s the reason I moved out of Utah. I was treated so dishonestly so many times. And when I pointed out the outrageous treachery, I was usually given what appears to be the standard answer, “I answer to a higher authority.” I take it you are blind to this sort of thing or haven’t had to deal with it.
And of course you are correct about the Mormon church not officially endorsing candidates, at least not in recent times. But it was made pretty obvious what the preference was. Nevertheless, I think most people in Utah have buyer’s remorse when it comes to that snake Mitt Romney. Or maybe he’s a white salamander.
