The Fall of Icarus

I think it’s beginning to dawn on the Left that resting their entire anti-gun movement on the shoulders of children is a mistake.

Now, truth be told, I could have told them that weeks ago.

Actually, I did.

But now the anti-gun Left are starting to express some doubts about putting all their eggs in these immature, ignorant baskets.

It occurs to me these Parkland kids are now in a media glare they can not possibly be ready for – they might fuck up at some point, and when they do, I hope people are kind.

Yeah, that might do it.

Or maybe it was David “Wesley Crusher” Hogg and his Nazi salute.

And no sooner did I see Michael Ian Black’s tweet, did I happen across this one:

David Hogg is Icarus. He should check his altimeter.

That’s a perfect analogy.

Much like Icarus, this ignorant boy with the overly-quaffed and gelled hair is enjoying his moment in the bright sunlight.

But he’s flying close and closer to the sun.

And just like Icarus, at some point he will fly too close and burn out.

As I said of Wesley back in February:

I mentioned last week that children do not possess fully-developed brains.

This official witch pricker of the Anti-Gun Witch Hunt has yet to develop impulse-control, emotional control, judgment or insight.

As a result, he is going to push too hard and too far – mostly because he can’t help himself. Not to mention, he’s bound to become intoxicated by his own instant celebrity.

And the more of a platform he is given, the more likely he will jam his foot so far into his mouth he’ll be able to tickle his own kidneys with his toes.

But the Left doesn’t consider what all this attention will do to a child – the television appearances, magazine covers, and speeches at well-funded rallies.

It is bound to go to his head. Hell, it already has.

And the Left will just keep pushing him higher and closer to the sun.

At some point, Icarus will fall.

And what will they do for him when that happens?

Will they simply jettison him and send him away – in other words, give him the Cindy Sheehan treatment?

That would be my guess.

So long as they believe that this modern-day Icarus will help advance their cause, they will continue to use him …

…until they use him up.
