The Perpetually Offended target another comedian

Do you remember in the late 1970s when the movie “Oh, God!” starring George Burns and John Denver was released?

Some Christians were not amused.

They found it offensive that an actor would play the part of God in a comedy so they protested outside of movie theaters that showed “Oh, God!”

Naturally, the protesters were mocked for their puritanical outrage.

And the response was one often employed, “If the movie offends you, then don’t go see it!”

That was the go-to argument against any boycotts or protests back in the day.  Whether it was objections raised over Howard Stern or heavy metal music or David Caruso’s naked butt on “NYPD Blue”  – the answer was “If you don’t like it, then don’t see it.”

Or “If you don’t like it, just change the channel!”

Now, a lot of the same folks who smugly told others “if you don’t like it, then don’t watch it” are now the ones demanding that things they personally find offensive be banned.

The latest example of this is a “leaked” comedy routine by foul-mouthed comedian Louis C.K.

I don’t know why they’re referring to it as “leaked.”

It’s a comedy routine, not the plans for D-Day.

And the Perpetually Offended are aghast over the things Louis C.K. joked about – so much so they are demanding that he be banned from comedy.

Here’s the segment of the “leaked” routine.

Language warning; he likes to cuss.

Okay, I admit it.  I laughed out loud a couple of times and I’m not a fan of foul-mouthed comedians. Not because I’m a stuffy prude.  Like I said a week or so ago when I wrote about Season One of Homeland, given the vast treasure-trove of words at our disposal, relying on the F-word is lazy.

But it wasn’t his cursing the Perpetually Offended found so offensive they want to drive him from comedy.

They are upset because he actually did a comedy routine where he poked fun of the modern-day Sacred Cows.

And if anyone had the temerity to say to them, “If you don’t like it, just don’t listen to it,” these Perpetually Offended would get offended over that.

Actually, the most boring kind of comedy is the kind that isn’t funny.

And comedians who are concerned with not offending the Perpetually Offended are so boxed in, it’s impossible for them to be funny.

I’ve always been of the “If you don’t like it, then don’t watch it” school of thought.

I hate rap music because it’s vulgar, violent and profane. So I don’t listen to it.

I think “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” should change its name to “Law & Order: DNC Talking Points Unit.”  So I don’t watch it.

Saturday Night Live isn’t funny, so I avoid it.

If you don’t like comedy that pokes fun of your Sacred Cows, you don’t have to watch it or listen to it.

But, see, for the Perpetually Offended, it isn’t enough for them to simply avoid the things that offend them.  No. They have to prevent those so-called offensive things from being seen or heard by everyone.

The Perpetually Offended are the ones who troll Twitter in order to report anyone who says things that hurt their feelings.

It’s as if they suffer from some kind of Obsessive/Compulsive disorder.  Even if they never listen to a single comedy routine from Louis C.K., it makes them absolutely crazy knowing he’s out there somewhere telling those jokes that they can’t hear.  And it makes them doubly crazy that people who aren’t perpetually offended are actually laughing at those jokes.

But here’s where the Perpetually Offended messed up with regard to this so-called “leaked” comedy routine.

Thanks to their breathless “well-I-nevering,” more people got to hear Louis C.K.’s “offensive” jokes than otherwise would have.  And many of them actually found it funny.

One poor offended fellow who goes by @jackallisonLOL on Twitter posted the audio – ostensibly to share his outrage — and as a result, the audio on his tweet has more than 3.6 million views.

Talk about backfire.

The irony is the guy has “LOL” in his Twitter handle.

Something tells me this humorless prat rarely if ever laughs out loud.

Any old how.

Paul Joseph Watson takes on this latest fatwa from the Perpetually Offended as only he can.

Give it a watch.

And speaking of the Perpetually Offended…

The only comedy these twits approve is sophomoric slapstick, of which you get only so many ways to throw a pie in the face … oh, … it is okay to mock Christians and Jews.

Outrage of the Perpetually Offended is another example of hypocritical double standards in the political fabric of liberal/conservative America.

Offense is a social construct weaponized to oppress the (hard) working class.

    Mocking is the best response.

As much as they try to convince themselves otherwise, they know they’re full of it.
