These Performative Optics will Backfire

The decision to wall off the Capitol and deploy 25K unarmed National Guardsmen ostensibly to “protect” Biden’s Inauguration has got to be some of the stupidest, most short-sighted performative optics in the history of the country.

Understand, the stated motive behind these performative optics is to create the perception that Trump supporters are so unhinged and dangerous Washington DC must be treated as a war zone to stop an impending “insurrection.”

But like most things Democrats do, these optics are backfiring.

Optics are all about how things look. And these performative optics look like a regime change after a military coup.

Worse still, it was reported yesterday that the FBI is running background checks on all of the Guardsmen deployed to Washington to ensure that none of them are a “threat” (read: support Trump) who might carry out an “insider attack” against the senile old codger who is so wildly popular he garnered more votes than Barack Obama.

If this were actually the case, if, in fact, there was evidence of a potential “insider attack,” would the Defense Department send out a press release to the AP letting them know? Seems to me they’d be keeping it on the QT.

There really isn’t evidence of such an attack. This is just more performative optics.

This performative drama isn’t sending the message they think it is.

Instead, it makes one wonder if these guys know Joe Biden isn’t wildly popular and didn’t garner more votes than any other Presidential candidate in history.

David is right. These performative optics reveal far more about Team Biden than they do about the military.

They might have thought these optics would make Trump voters look bad. But in reality, it makes Team Biden look insecure and deeply paranoid.

And that is not a good way to start your Presidency, n’est-ce pas?

What kind of Commander-in-Chief demands his troops be vetted to ensure loyalty to him and not to the Constitution they all took an oath to defend and protect?

And what does it say about that Commander-in-Chief that he and his team don’t believe the Guardsmen’s oath to the Constitution is sufficient?

At this point, I wonder how long before Biden goes full Gaddafi and is guarded 24/7 by hot women in uniform.

In the end, here’s what the Inauguration performative optics inadvertently reveal:

Biden, a man who spent the last several months of his campaign holed up in his basement, now insists on holding a “virtual” Inauguration devoid of any actual voters behind 12’ high fencing and surrounded by 25K National Guardsmen who have been “vetted” to ensure their loyalty to him.

All this coming from the man who claimed “The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be President for all Americans – whether you voted for me or not.”

Is this the kind of Commander-in-Chief the US Military should take orders from?

Nothing about turning DC into a war zone is a good look for the incoming Administration. Not one thing.

If you want to create the impression that Biden legitimately won this election with unprecedented support and the American people are wildly excited about him entering office, these performative optics aren’t the way to do it.

In fact, they will only ensure the opposite impression.

And no amount of “America United” propaganda can undo the damage these optics cause.

According to reports among the list of things he’s going to kill on his first day is the Keystone XL pipeline. This will hurt Canadians as well as oil workers on this side of the border. We’ll again be forced to rely on Saudi Arabia and Venezuela as he pays back the big money green energy donors that pay him. I can’t even bear to watch this.

The left fears Trump’s supporters. That is the symptom. What they really fear is free speech and a free citizenry. Their paranoia is getting the best of them and I wonder why they are paranoid???? Could it be they know they have trespassed upon people’s rights and freedoms?

While I do not advocate any violence I will say for the record, when the deplorable nation comes for their birthright freedoms and to oust an illegitimate government you will not have to worry about a surprise attack. They will not sneak up. It will be in the open and plain for all to see that the Junta in DC is on its way out and they are coming to help it go.

Why does Biden and the Dems need a wall? Can’t they just post “No Rioter” signs along the perimeter of the capital? That works for gun free zones, so the Dems say.

Sometimes all you have to do is ask.

All they have to do is tell Antifa and BLM that no further paychecks will be forthcoming, and they’ll go back into their basements.

      Bingo. Peace in the streets.

I also think Biden and the Dems are doing this to suppress the turning out of Trump supporters who will make a mockery of the inauguration. Nothing like “Joe Biden, the best President China could buy” chants from making the Dems feel all warm and fuzzy (actually, that should be the chant every where Biden and Harris (as well as the top Dems in Congress) travel).

“At this point, I wonder how long before Biden goes full Gaddafi and is guarded 24/7 by hot women in uniform.”

Please don’t do a photoshop of Bidet being guarded by sweaty whoopi goldbergs and Bette Midlers.

The left is always looking for a target that they can attack and disable, per:

“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it” – Alinsky

Trump, Cruz, Hawley, the Guard, whoever can be useful
we need to mock these absurd attacks, maybe a daily Alinsky Bulletin

Fences and Walls do two things for the people. They keep them either inside, or outside of it. They are equally effective. There have been a lot of folks talking about how the fencing was installed with the connecting U-bolts facing toward the outside, so as to keep those inside from loosening the nuts for escape. Was this a colossal screwup, or an intentional act? We may never know. I suspect something akin to Fire Code…

Not since 1961 Berlin have I seen such a wall & military presence. In the summer of ’61, the Ulbricht government declared the wall to be “antifaschistischer Schutzwall” (an anti-fascist protective barrier) — ironic, eh? I wonder which soldier will be today’s Konrad Schumann and make the jump? Perhaps that’s why the authorities are vetting the soldiers being deployed.

The ONLY thing that has kept America a free nation for almost 300 years is armed to the teeth civilians. During WW2 the Japanese were afraid of an armed civilian behind ever blade of grass in America.
The same is true of our nation yet today. Bad people fear anyone who will fight back.
Any government that is afraid of it’s citizens has a very serious problem. In our case, it is BOTH political parties. We have few few politicians in either party looking out for the average American. Far to many of our elected officials in both political parties were more than willing to sell their soul and their country for money, power and votes .

      • January 18, 2021 at 6:49 pm

Amen, brother. If our politicians had been doing the people’s business, they would have greeted the people and invited we the people into the people’s house. Instead, they ran from the people and cowered like rats in the tunnels. Tells me all I need to know about the quality and loyalty of our professional political class.

Biden and his cohorts must be worried that Corn Pop will show up. They need 25 K national guard because “Corn Pop was a bad dude”

Will the 53 attendees have a chance to rub the hair on the new “president’s*” legs? What does the cackling slut have in mind for ‘entertainment’? Life through a kaleidoscope – I’m sick of it.

If we don’t need a wall to keep illegal immigrants from coming into out country, why do we now need a wall to keep our legal American citizens from visiting THEIR capital?

  • January 19, 2021 at 12:13 am

If you need 25,000+ “loyal and vetted” troops and a wall to protect you from The People while you are installed as our President, is it because you know that you were not elected by The People?
