This really stinks

I just finished combing through today’s round of Podesta Emails from WikiLeaks. And I found one that I think stinks to high heaven.

After doing a little searching through the emails, I discovered that additional chains of the same email were released a week ago. I have no idea why I hadn’t noticed those.

So if you’ve already heard about this, sorry. It’s news to me.

In a November 26, 2014 email with the subject line Urgent: IL call, John Podesta forwards to Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin the following from Robby Mook:

NOTE; TIME IS TIGHT: the bill to change the primary needs to be introduced Tuesday to get through both chambers before the assembly adjourns.
Goal: for Daley to call Speaker Madigan’s COS Tim Mapes. Ideally, Daley would also have his friend Mike McClain call Mapes with the same message.

Now a little background.

Individual state governments determine when their primaries will be held.

Caucuses are different. State legislatures do not determine caucuses. Instead, the state parties do.

But states that hold primaries are conducted by state governments.

So in order to make a change in when a primary is held, someone has to introduce a bill that is voted on and passed.

And here is the campaign manager for a potential candidate looking to get a friendly Democrat in the Illinois state legislature to introduce a bill to change the primary date.

Why? Well, because Hillary wanted it changed.

I don’t know how I missed this email last week. The smell alone should have caught my attention.

Because this really stinks.

Apparently Mook even offered to bribe Illinois Democrats with more delegates if they succeed in getting the primary moved.

They will receive a bonus of 10% extra delegates if they move to April and 20% if they move to May. Mapes has said repeatedly they don’t care about that.

Since delegates are determined by the party and not by a candidate, I can only conclude Mook’s plans were done with the cooperation of the DNC.

Mook concludes with this:

As we discussed, they don’t really care about being helpful and feel forgotten and neglected by POTUS. The key point is that this is not an Obama ask, but a Hillary ask. And the Clintons won’t forget what their friends have done for them. It would be helpful to feel out what path, if any, we have to get them to yes. This will probably take some pushing.

I’m telling you. This stinks.

It’s a “Hillary ask.”

“And the Clintons won’t forget what their friends have done for them.”

You understand?

“The Clintons won’t forget what their friends have done for them.”

Now, for the record, it didn’t happen. Illinois’ primary was held on March 15, 2016.

But that’s hardly the point.

This stinks.

The campaign manager for a candidate who has yet to declare was trying to influence a state in changing a primary date on behalf of this undeclared candidate.

“And the Clintons won’t forget what their friends have done for them.”

Seriously. These people put the Corleones to shame.
