This SCOTUS ruling is a gut-punch to Democrats

No, it probably won’t elicit the same level of hysteria as yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling on the Travel Ban.

But make no mistake about it today’s SCOTUS ruling on government employee unions is an enormous sock in the wallet to the Democrat Party.

In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that public sector unions cannot force non-union employees to pay dues against their will.

Which is kinda/sorta what Freedom is all about.

The plaintiff in the case, Mark Janus, has worked for years as an Illinois state employee and pays about $550 annually to the powerful public-sector union known as AFSCME.
While not a member of the union, he is required under state law to hand over a weekly portion of his paycheck, which he says is a violation of his constitutional rights.

“The fundamental issue is my right to choice,” Janus said outside the court in February.

AFSCME is one of the Democrat Party’s biggest donors.

In fact, Public Sector Unions have forked over nearly $240 million to the Democrats since 1990.

Unions in general are account for the majority of campaign contributions. And nearly all of it goes to the Democrats.

And in 2016, SEIU (Service Employees International Union) donated over $39 million — $2,100 of which went to Republicans.

AFSCME poured $15,728,067 into the 2016 election – only $7,475 when to Republicans. (hat tip Open Secrets)

So trust me when I tell you this SCOTUS ruling is a gut-punch to the Democrat Party.

And that doesn’t even include the American Federation of Teachers ($33,580,880 to Dems in 2016) or the National Education Association ($29,427,730 to Dems in 2016).

To give you some perspective, SEIU, AFT and NEA each donated more than George Soros did in 2016.

For decades Democrats have been laundering money through the Unions.

And this SCOTUS ruling just threw a wrench in the Democrats’ most reliable laundromat.
