Well, boy, howdy! Are those Republicans in the Senate proud of themselves!!
Since the unfortunate ascension of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Barack, the “world’s most deliberative body” seems hell-bent on putting a bullet into its own brain pan.
Sure, I know it isn’t all Barack’s fault.
The US Senate, as it was designed was forever destroyed with the ratification of the Seventeenth Amendment over a hundred years ago. Before then, the Senate was to consist of representatives for the States on the Federal level. Not representatives of the people — that’s the House of Representatives. But representatives for each state. Then, with the ratification of the 17th Amendment, the US Senate effectively became the red-headed step-sister of the House of Representatives.
Our founders would not be pleased.
One positive thing I will say about turning Senators into directly-elected additional representatives is that at least they bastardized the role of the Senate by following the Amendment processes of the Constitution.
But what is happening today is the US Senate stripping itself of its duties as outlined in Article One of the Constitution.
And they’re doing it without benefit of amending the Constitution in the manner it is supposed to be amended. Instead, they are unconstitutionally amending the Constitution through a vote on the Senate floor.
In other words, the United States Senate just rendered itself, not only redundant, but useless.
Hell, they just shot themselves in the head.
Now there is no real reason to have a United States Senate.
Not because of the underhanded criminal Harry Reid or the Democrats, but thanks to the Republican Party.
Yesterday’s 98 to 1 vote stripping itself of the Treaty Clause of Article One is one more nail in the coffin of the US Senate.
They were really proud of themselves that they did it!
Why, they’re slapping themselves on the back, praising their “bipartisanship” while the light goes out behind their eyes.
Daniel Horowitz has an outstanding write up about this at Conservative Review.
I’ll be honest, I am disgusted with the whole lying lot of them with the exception of Senator Tom Cotton. He alone stood up against this fraud of a bill. He alone voted no. Not even Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz or Mike Lee stood firm.
Isn’t it bad enough that Barack Obama spends each and every day systematically destroying the Constitution he took an oath to uphold and defend?
We sent more Republicans to the Senate in November to stop this man from destroying our Constitution and defying the will of the people.
And rather than fight for the Constitution, for the People, hell, for their own Senate, Mitch McConnell and the Republican Party are doing everything they can to help Barack point the gun at their own miserable heads.
