“We got hoodwinked by a fake story and it’s ALL YOUR FAULT!!!”
Being in the news media means never having to say you’re sorry apparently.
Yesterday evening, the Washington Post published a piece that was pretty much their attempt to weasel out of any responsibility for their getting hoodwinked by a fake story.
It’s the fault of Trump supporters and their nasty penchant for “pouncing.”

That is some black-belt-level Excuse-Making Jujitsu right there.

Now, a new viral outrage emerged. This time the villain of the story was the news media.
Poor things. They scramble to release a news story based solely on a carefully-crafted snippet of video without taking the time to make sure the facts are in line. They join the pig-pile.
But we Trump supporters have turned them into villains by doing rudimentary fact-checking.
So it’s our fault the Washington Post is populated by journalistic hacks.
The article then cherry-picks a few “controversial” Trump supporters who picked up the story – clearly to make it look like a rag-tag cabal of unsavory conspiracy theorists.
For example, when citing that Mike Cernovich was one of the ones who pored over the additional video Saturday, the Post makes sure to include this:
Mike Cernovich, a popular figure in this world, helped to promote the Pizzagate conspiracy theory in 2016. Pizzagate falsely accused a D.C. pizza shop of housing a secret pedophile ring, and ultimately inspired a believer to show up at the shop with an assault rifle.
Odd how they fail to mention that as a result of the Washington Post giving a heaping assist to the fake story of the Covington students, those boys have been inundated with death threats.
But, but, but Cernovich! Pizzagate!!!
And then, because they can’t let go of the original narrative, the piece closes thus:
Amid speculation that the boys might get an invitation to visit the White House, Savannah Guthrie announced that Sandmann would be interviewed Wednesday on the “Today Show.” Guthrie posted a photo of the two of them on Twitter, sitting in front of the cameras. Sandmann was smiling.
He was SMILING!!! Sweet, merciful Zeus. THAT SMILE!!!!
These people are garbage. Absolute garbage.
But it is amazing, isn’t it?
Instead of accepting fault for their own shoddy reporting, they try to shift the blame to the people who actually took the time to do the fact-checking that the Washington Post couldn’t be bothered to do themselves.
We “pounced” don’t you know.
Seriously, are these people in the so-called “Free Press” congenitally incapable of just acknowledging that they screwed up?

This reminds me recently of an incident that happened on a knitting website I am a member of. A bunch of “people of color” knitters had a fit on instagram over some “racist” blog post that a knitting bag maker posted on her blog about her excitement over an upcoming trip to India. This spilled over into this knitting website, that has been completely divided since the infamous knitted pink hat made it’s debut there. (It’s where that hat came from sadly.) This started a thread that one of the owners started in which he was asking for ideas on how to handle racism in the knitting community. The thread was just a bunch of white liberal women “owning up to their white supremacy”, apologizing for it and then giving a few suggestions. All of the suggestions were virtually the same, but the one that stood out was blaming the 2 conservative/Republican forums on the website. There are hundreds of other boards but they all agreed that our forums were racist and unwelcoming. They wanted to ban “build the wall” in word and in patterns because it’s racist they said. Meanwhile, their side had f-ck Trump or f-ck your wall hats everywhere. They had disgusting patterns that depicted politicians they don’t like engaged in bizarre sex acts, just total depravity on their side. But instead of leaving it at their own behavior, real or imagined, they went after the few on the site that had differing opinions all in the name of “well THOSE people aren’t making anyone feel welcome! All of this is THEIR fault!”. Sadly, a lot of those conservative knitters have been suspended for 10 days or banned from the site. They became the whipping boy for all those white liberal women who wanted to appear to care without suffering any consequences themselves. For liberals, it’s NEVER their fault that they did what they did. It’s everyone else’s fault for either pointing it out or if that doesn’t work, the other group is actually responsible because these white liberals didn’t realize they were white supremacist. (This is actually some of the excuses I’ve heard.) Funnily enough the ones in charge of the website who go around acting as if they are “woke” and care are all white (4 female and 1 sorta male) and they just hired a new employee: blonde, blue eyes and white as snow. Obviously the irony is lost on them. I’m eagerly awaiting to see if this is actually noticed by anyone right away. Eventually it will be noticed, because liberals are never happy and always eat their own. According to older members, they did a very similar thing several years ago with a huge purge of conservatives. Had I known that I wouldn’t’ have joined, but they sold themselves as a knitting website, not a left leaning political website.
Yikes, I’m a member of the group you were banned from. What a bunch of crap. I was surprised about the new hire. Only one person asked C about their hiring practices in light of all the diversity and racism talk. He poo pooed it and said he would explain all the other ways they’re working to combat racism, etc. In other words, do as I say, not as I do. They get a pass.
Eventually those bimbos will figure it out and start attacking each other.

LOL Reading some posts about what happened in 2009 when the website owner did almost the exact same thing to the conservatives then, I am now wondering if he will re-instate my ability to send messages. He was a real dick back then too. Grandstanding for his liberal “women”. Almost like they take out their frustrations with their own women on conservative women because it’s all they are allowed. Liberal men are fairly bitter and cruel towards conservative women. He’s a hen pecked little jerk.
There was a time when a news outlet, trying to get the real “scoop” would have investigated the story and been the first out with “Everyone else is wrong; we’ll tell you what really happened,” and use that not only to garner viewers, but to promote themselves as the ones who take the time to get it right, so tune in to them.
I noticed that the boy without his red hat is a mere child. A meek little boy.
The grown men yelling obscenities at them for an hour should be ashamed of themselves for screaming at children. That is just plain sad.
