When you’re in a hole…

hole

You know the old saying “When you’re in a hole, stop digging.”

I thought everybody knew that expression.

Turns out I was wrong.

Rachel Maddow, fresh off her humiliating “scoop” about President Trump’s 2005 1040 form is way down deep in a hole. And she just can’t stop herself from digging even deeper.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Maddow scoffed at the notion that she set expectations too high by deciding to “set off a media frenzy.”

“Because I have information about the president doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily a scandal,” the hole digger replied.

“If other people leapt to that conclusion without me indicating that it was,” she continued “that hype is external to what we did.”

External to what you did?

Oh, okay, Rachel.

I mean just because she wrote “BREAKING” doesn’t necessarily mean that she was going to be delivering breaking news.

Silly rabbits!

And notice the “(Seriously)” at the end? That wasn’t Rachel trying to dispel any notion that what she had wasn’t serious.

And, hey. Just because MSNBC kept a “Trump Tax Returns countdown clock” on the screen all evening is no indication that they were hyping it.

And if you people were breathlessly awaiting a great, big breaking story worthy of a countdown clock, that’s not Rachel’s fault. Nor is it the fault of MSNBC.

It’s your fault.

Get it?

Oy, gevalt.

Rachel is in a hole so deep, she can’t even see the top anymore.

She reminds me of the Black Knight from Monty Python’s Holy Grail.
